When you are a kid, it is easy to tremble with fear and insanity while yoiu are sleeping. When you become an adult, I find horor films are like comedy.
Be true to the thread. I would say the scariest movie I have watch would be “Candyman”, for it has this pychological effect that drives a person to insanity. Saying candyman fives times alone in the dark on the mirror.
And as i kid grewing up, I was fear of clowns because of clown horror movies. " Killer clowns from outer space"
Candyman was pretty scary, I agree - except the ending was totally lame.
The scariest movie I’ve seen in my adult life was The Blair Witch Project. Before you groan, understand that I had read the actors were not aware of the producers’ plans per se; that there was no script, and that they were only given notes from time to time explaining certain necessities; in other words, that the fear displayed on the screen was as close to the real thing as is possible for a movie.
Needless to say, I bought into it, and in turn the film was creepy as hell.
I agree daybreak. At the beginning of candyman is was getting good. Then all of a sudden the death of candyman? The writer made him ahave a body. What the fck.
Am I in the minority when I say, I’ve never been scared by scary movies. I’ve tried to be scared to get some enjoyment, but of all genres, horror is the one where I’m constantly reminding myself its just a movie.
batman begins scared the hell out of me… i was high when i saw it and that film is fucking trippy on its own, i thought i was tripping out, i thought i was making those bats…
fear… proper fear!
i nearly ran out till my friend reassured me that all was well!
Open Water is pretty damn scarey. When I was a kid, two movies scared the bejeezus outta me: The Omen and the first Nightmare on Elm Street. The latter franchise spiraled down the shitter (Freddy vs Jason in particular left nasty skid marks on the bowl) but the first was truly creepy. Prince of Darkness really creeped me out, too, the first time I saw it, but it hasn’t aged well. Lastly I’d say The Ring and Darkness were both pretty spooky movies, albeit not all that great.
Remember those dudes in that antartica laboratory who discover some alien creature that gestates inside the dog, and then gets the scientist?
You know why that movie was so scary? Because of the setting. The simple, cold, uninhabited, desolate frozen waste-land. A spooky mysterious place untouched by man. And the lighting. Every scene was purposely without light. Kinda like aliens. The whole movie takes place on a dark planet or in a dark ship.
this would have been my answer exactly except for the modern movies, but the Omen, Nightmare, and Prince were probably the scariest movies I saw as a child. Freddy was prob the worst.
I can kick all of your asses though, Try watching “Requiem for a Dream”, now that is scary. I honestly dare you to smoke a joint and watch that movie.
