A man desire to seek the island of the hermits. He ask but no one knew. He then travel then one day, a cunning merchant saw that he was a fool, told him he knew, and he would tell him if he would labor for him for 3 years. 3 years gone by, the man ask him where is the island of the hermits. The merchant thought he had forgot this, and plotted to kill him; he brought him to the wilderness and told him to climb up the highest tree. The man so honest and faithful to the merchant, he obey everything what he said. The merchant then told him to crawl to the near at the end of the branch, and then let go one of his hand. Then the merchant told him to let go the other hand. The man fell off and then a mist of clouds beneath him form, and took him off to the island of the hermits.
Should we say that the honest man is a fool? How does being honest, a virtue, prosper oneself, reasonably?
Hmm … I wonder why the story didn’t just say he died when he fell from the tree. Instead the story says he fell into exactly what he was looking for. Strange …
Maybe the moral of the story is that if you stay honest through all the dishonesty you will find what you’re looking for in the end, afterall.
Only dishonest men call honest men fools becuase they take advantage of honest people. But, in the end the honest people use the pain given to them by dishonesty and turn it into fuel for their incredible ambitions. No pain, no gain.
your invention dan is absurd and you know that in what you don’t believe anything of what you said just to create another illusion of liking innocence that you are not, but the absurdity i see you don’t, because you can’t think as an honest guy, honesty is to love what you are than you will never be that slave you describe especially to whom shows that he don’t give you a reflection of what you give to yourself, even more i can tell of your truth to can only say what you don’t know, the second first one you are born is the same second you will die which means miracles as you describe make of you the foolish guy
and murdoc there is no such thing of dishonest taking advantage of honesty, they could hate it if its truth provocate their lies, but too making people are faking honesty for credits they don’t deserve, the one who take advantage of sanity in thoughts and feelings is not the dishonest who feels rejected and puting down, but only GOD the creator of honesty and superiority will of sanity as goals
this is one thing I do not understand how can honestly fuels ones ambition or prosper? While we see when people are honest they are always being taken advantage of.
When being taken advantage of many people simply feel sorry for themselves. What a waste! Others, when taken advantage of, use this pain as a motive to make themselves better as human beings; to rise above those who took advantage of them, but not through revenge. For example, whenever I am feeling a little blue I write music or draw. The inspiration I attain from my pain feels endless and in the end I have created awe-inspiring pieces of art. Ironic even moreso that the further I am down the poop hole the happier and more vibrant my creations become. This part I can’t quite explain. I think I use happiness as an out. I transform my burden into gold instead of just basking in it, feeling sorry for myself.
So the next time you feel you’re being taken advantage of, just brush your shoulders off and think how you too can use this pain in a positive, constructive way. Just think about it … someone who is beat to the ground and still, time after time, gets right back up and shines like a star.
… Or you could be a person who can’t handle pain and has to shove it onto other people who can by taking advantage of them. Which one sounds more prosperous, now?
for you it will only confront you to what you love, you receive to feel that you love being honest in at extend that you will not accept to lie even if it is going to cost you life, that you will love to live only if you be in it true, for others they could see that honesty is a sense of living they don’t want
Those who are far too trusting make good food in the astral realm…
But if a spirit body was indestructable there, then assimilation would be the main goal, and destruction would not happen.
After death, trust is one of the only real weapons…
it is not a weapon but only a sense of being that is how any liar feels the urgent need to convince himself of his lying by justifying it with any superficial truth
why are you faking to ignore my comments? disciple of light can i ask you if you are honest of what you said to Dan? if you were honest with your indeed to him it means that you are on the same wave vibe of honesty, i don’t think Dan had ever been honest what do you think?
I think it’s all a play of ‘knowledge is power’. The more honest someone is, the more accurately he is trying to communicate his circumstance to someone else so that they may better understand him. It is an action of elucidation, which would be foolish if the information is then used against him.
Although I don’t think you story demonstrates this. Before the last line, the story leads you to think that the gullible man rather than an honest man is the idiot by implying that blind faith in someone who says they can help is a foolish thing to do. To say in the last line that he gets to where he wanted to go doesn’t make this man a fool, as he achieved exactly what he wanted.
I think it demonstrates in this case that being gullible and being dishonest are both desirable mutually exclusive traits that will each get you what you want in the end. The ‘fool’ wanted to reach his island, and did. The merchant wanted to get rid of the fool, which is also achieved. Everyone’s a winner.
what is this bible answer? how do you see it? what is a forth of sheep in the middle of wolves? why do you have to be a snake to be wise for God? explain justify defend your faith, stop this biblical stuff that noone feel and all fear, are you mad? or eager of evil? are you a serial killer who repeat these words to feel hot? come on give the truth? what do you feel saying this disciple of light my hell?
i dont understand Dan what you are trying to say, is the sheep a fool? or the snake? and some people are the wolves wo judge him? is to say foolish means desire to kill to eat the sheep? does it make you hungry a fool infront of you? what is a fool in emotion language than? and if only some would feel this eager desire what about the others what would they see or feel of the honest person human being?
I didn’t meant anything seriously, I just wanted to imply there is not just one bible out there, there are many, if you consider them to be sutras or doctrines, such like that.
I think disciple’s quote of this Bible passage summarizes a valid point. Let me elucidate, although many of you think that the Bible is pack of lies, and irrational. If you can picture yourself as a sheep, and people that would take advantage of you as the wolves, you can understand the sagaciousness of this passage. Honesty is a good thing for puposes of conscience and that most people do not like to be lied to. However, when you know that you have a hostile audience that could take advantage of your honesty, it is best to be wise as a snake (figuratively). You dont necessarily have to lie, but you can sometimes withold knowledge that could be used against you. Also, one could learn that gentleness with your enemies can sometimes have a soothing effect; it wont add fuel to the fire.
