Which member is the greatest; what do they have in common?

Whoa! :astonished: This thread has even brought Gamer out of his self imposed exile! =D>

I have the feeling Gamer is around a fair bit, or at least when he is sporting a handle-bar mustache. These days, that’s often.

Why doesn’t anyone have arendt on there list?

The best “conversation” I ever had on a ILP forum.

The posters who I’ve been most intellectually inspired by:

James 2
Phaedrus
Detrop

Uccisore

The posters whose online company I enjoy the most:

I’m aware that this is a long list, but these people come to mind right now. I don’t always agree with the opinions of those I’ve listed, but their posts always fascinate me. :sunglasses:

I like popularity contests just as much now as I did in high school. :unamused:

Is this the feeling of sentimental pityness? :unamused:

No, I was just saying thank you as I simultaneaously dissed on your thread.

Dunamis: I miss him dearly – he taught me things I had never even imagined. He showed me that there may not be such a thing as ‘what it is like to perceive green’, which led me to my current philosophy of mind.

Xunzian: a careful and informed thinker, reminds me a little of Uccisore?
SIATD: he combines an inherent unconventionality (read: hippie) with an ability to philosophize and reason carefully.
faust: not sure what to say beyond ‘sharp critical thinker’ – but I always read his posts. His Werklempter translations are always welcome additions to the philosophical edifice.
Peter Kropotkin: taught me that, contrary to the opinion of most of my family, liberals are not necessarily idiots.
Gamer: i most fondly remember him for his hilariously honest characterization of his young adult life before marriage.
Old Gobbo: like Dan~, a brilliant madman - I like his writing and poetry
Thirst: we had some good political convos back in the day.
Harbinger: Adlerian(whom I also miss) in disguise? The “Data/Portent” conceit is cute… another one whose draw I still don’t yet understand…
Imp: his one-liners are peerless. I feel like putting “LOL” after most of his posts.
Uccisore: a drop of reason in the pool of confusion that is the religion board.
Future Man: i used to identify with him a lot in spiritual matters. Then I changed, and he disappeared. I keep an eye on his occasional political rants.

Just a current snapshot of my thoughts about certain posters. I prefer to focus on conversations rather than personalities, but to converse about personalities can be fun occasionally.

I’ve written out the names of people I enjoy talking with before in another one of these threads… they know who they are anyways nudges right

It changes often so I won’t do it again, but I just want to say that I really do enjoy and read just about everyone’s posts. Everyone has something to offer here, if you listen closely enough you just may find what you’re looking for amongst a sea of critical human experiences.

Happy Hunting y’all.

You are so right. I have actually enjoyed everyone’s posts here even if I am not on anyone’s list. Good show, OG.

It takes a twenty-something, dammit. :unamused:

You’re on my list Bess

Another who is too, whom I just remembered is W.C.

That guy always chimes in to say the exact thing needed to be said. Attabe Winston

You were on my list Bessy.

I tried to post it five times and each time it disappeared, for whatever reason. I’d post it again but I’m too frustrated.

I particularly respect the opinions of ed3, james2 (especially on history), ben, faust, siatd (on all humanities), gavin (of cambridge), all moderators and whitelotus (gone).

Now we can do best list (at least I will).

My favorite is Aporia’s.

Very eclectic and personal, yet somehow it makes complete sense to me - as in, it contains the posters that keep (or have kept) the cogs of ILP spinning frictionally and efficiently.

Personally, I like faust.

He is light-bodied with a woody finish… more of a quaffer than a sipper, seems assertive and balanced, complete yet delicate… seems to have a well balanced tho’ supple wit. But, hey don’t get even started on that tentative. Aged, but ooh baby - a buttery mouthfeel, and I am not even on his “favorite” list yet. :sunglasses:

Buttery mouthfeel? He’s got a buttery mouthfeel? How to I check my mouthfeel? It seems buttery to me. I’m buttery.

Ah, well. I guess it isn’t so bad to be known for a woody finish. Especially at my age.

Thanks, Bessy. Tell your friends.
