Do you consider yourself a ‘philosopher’ or merely a ‘fan of philosopy’?

  • I’m an armchair philosopher: I like to think on higher/deeper levels, but I’m not going to get carried away
  • I enjoy philosophy as I do literature: good writing is good reading
  • I’m just here because it offers more intellectual stimulation than ‘regular’ boards: there’s nothing particularly special about philosophy
  • I AM a philosopher: I hope to one day be remembered for my contribution to philosophy, if it takes my entire life

Goofing off, or, perhaps, goofing on,
These are vital skills
And are the main source of reality, time and the universe.

Garden gnomes invented soil, for example, during a bout of “goofing off”–and this lead to the general existence of plant life on earth.

i’d just like to comment that the only reason i’m on this board is because all the true assholes would be breaking the rules of ilp and thus get banned. i mean i’ve said it b4 i’ll say it again;this kind of forum is not popular with lame basturds.
