Who is interested in a writing competition?

This is just a preliminary post to ask all of you writers who’d be interested in a creative writing competition for Symposia/Ilovephilosophy?

There will be prizes for the top 3 entries (presuming that we get more than 3 entries) though I haven’t decided quite what these prizes will be, but they’ll be good. There will be a panel of 3 judges, providing those that I have in mind agree to my request, and the best entries will be published as featured articles on Symposia.

I need to know whether enough people are interested before I can run the thing, so add a word or two if you’re up for it…

I’m interested as long as I’m given a subject to write about or some type of guidelines.

I probably shouldn’t be taking on another writing assignment right now but… meh.

Good point Underground Man - would entrants prefer a set topic or free reign?

Doesn’t matter…to me at least.

I’d like to do it. Not sure how well I’d do, but it shouldn’t be embarrassing, at least.
I’d rather have some sort of guidelines than none.

Although I would prefer not to be told what to write, I think setting a topic to discuss would be best for a competition. Count me in!

I’ll give it a bash - but I’d like a subject/topic/whatever to work from.

I think without a common theme a least - judging would be a nightmare.

It looks like we’ll have some sort of guidelines, the topic that initially popped into my head was theme parks, which shows how my mind works, I suppose…

Come on, there must be more of you willing entrants out there…

edit - I’ve decided that one of the prizes will be a signed* copy of Bertrand Russell’s The ABC of Relativity, the only book on my shelf with which I felt that I could part…

*signed by me, rather than the author

The book hasn’t yet been signed by me, so if the winner prefers it unsigned then that is how it will remain…

How about a suggested topic for those who want one but also the option of ignoring it should you prefer that? I’m willing to bend both ways…
