Who's the philosopher 2nd to the right?

If you look up in the top-left corner of this webpage, you see 5 philosophers. Who’s the one to the left of Neitzsche?

Schopenhauer I think, but I could be wrong

Please, gentlmen.

I want my thread on Dunamis, previously on Xanderman, to stay just a little bit longer on the top fo this forum.

Or not

It’s Bert… but where’s Ernie?

Shit wait… I’m not Imp.

LOL

-Imp

The author of possibly the worst book every written on philosophy.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of … Russell%29

I Learn something new everyday here, I thought it was Mister Rogers in his senior years.

Saitd - I read the reviews at the bottom of the page you linked. I got a laugh out of them. It seems you either like Russell a lot, or you hate him. Interesting that the metaphysicians panned him. Interesting that one critic thought that its main defect was that he didn’t agree with Plato.

Plato’s just gotta be dabomb. Thousands and thousands of nonsensical pages, and every first-year student and second-rate thinker still worships him as a god. There’s no business like show business. Still thinking about that Russell-Nietzsche thread. Still trying to score some coke in this godforsaken wilderness. I’ll need it.

Bah, disagreeing with Plato is what 20th century philosophy is all about. Laying into canonical figures like Berty will be what 21st century philosophy is all about.

Plato is vastly overrated when compared to Aristotle. Saying that, philosophers are generally overrated. There’s literally no more than 10 that I’ve come across who impressed with both their arguments and their imaginations at the same time. Suffice to say, Plato was not one of them.

I know what you mean - it’s impossible to think on Pepsi…

Just wanted to add an obligatory “Go Bertrand!!” in defence of the great man as he, yet again, gets spanked by SIATD.

Although we agree here, that is not Bertie’s only failure. His “Knowledge by Acquaintance and Knowledge by Description” is a bad joke … OH and look he has company, add to the list:

Gottlob Frege
Saul Kripke
J.S. Mill

Ah yes, what company Bertie keeps … and to think of the all the philosophers Russell cough, cough proved wrong through the ages.

Hmm, nope still looks like old Mister Rogers to me

You seem to have missed the irony in what you just said!

even i found this one funny-and i know nothing about bertrand.

good one.
