A while ago I made a post about screening who should be allowed to have children. There is an alternative that would be preferred to this screen, and I seek the opinions of the opposition.
People are not born geniuses. Some people are born with abilities that others are not; this can undoubtedly be seen by those who are autistic, or other mental phenomena, but many of those who are the most intelligent in the world, or the best at what they do, have gotten there by holding themselves to a higher standard, which anybody is capable of.
I think a lot would argue that not everybody could be extraordinary. Goethe nailed it when he said, “If children grew up according to early indications, we should have nothing but geniuses.â€
It’s very interesting to me to hear how many people like trying to keep everybody’s “feet on the ground.” It’s almost discouraged to dream. Anything outside of the norm is considered unrealistic, and is advised against. What a shame. As the masses and crowds continue to try to bring down the elite few who think outside the box, dare to dream, and dare to believe the impossible IS possible, those who refuse to listen are making the impossible possible.
So in schools, children are taught facts. They are taught science, literature, mathematics, etc. I am left wondering why it’s not taught that the only limits of what one is capable of is equal to their own mental limitations. I understand that we cannot force parents to teach their kids that they should dream big and are capable of doing anything they put their minds to, but if it can’t be done through the parents, why can’t we do it through the schools?
I don’t think we give human beings enough credit for what they’re capable of. I think it should be required to instill in kids in school that they should find what they’re passionate about and pursue it with their whole heart mind and body, because anything truly is possible to those who believe, and those who don’t think so will assuredly fulfill their own destiny of mediocrity.
