Why Christ?

There is only one God, & if you open your eyes you will see aspects of God. That is how religion started, people know in their very soul that there is something deeper then the face value associations. Even the bible says eternity is written in our souls. And the idea of utopia was imbebbed in us from the time of the Garden of Eden.

Religion is man reaching out to God. & thus man will associate the sun as God and the center and source of life. They make assumptions and try to get the facts to fit the assumptions. But Christianity is God reaching out to man. It is most needed now when life is too busy and noisy to find a centeredness of peace, and hear that small still voice.

We exist in a duality. We are all the same in the soul, but our physical demands tend to rule us. The problem is, we are creatures of habit. And thus the complacency of males contradicts the role of leadership (also in us since we were cast out of Eden). This complacency witch can be attributed to many faults going unchanged just because it’s a means to an ends. How many women lost respect for males because of this. While the marriage bond was supposed to be what bridged this barrier. We can see an overcompensation in organized movements, where they try to cast off any ties to the failures.

Our habit nature is in the way our brain and soul interact. The spiritual feelings stimulate specific brain sections. Thus memories are stored accordingly. Child molesters don’t change because of domination of thought. It takes learning an appreciation for something much deeper to redirect the cause and effect. After all they take the relationships with love of facade, love of innocents they lost, and the rest imagination to fill in the blanks.

We all do the same thing on different levels. We first learn to express a feeling from watching our parents. Then we may say we won’t be our parents, but we still respond to feelings from our first learned responses. So we just have to have the right situation before we realize how much like our parents we are.

How we respond to others depends on how we want them to re-act, and how we interpret the facts. We think they are playing coy, and we might talk down to them. We think they are self-centered, we might take jabs at their conscious. It becomes a crutch when you don’t know a better way. It’s a lack of people skills. But to build each other up, we merely need to look at why we would act the same way. & Forgive people, and let go of the offense. & build each other up with acts of love, so they may feel free to show their kindness (cause it is a weakness in today’s society).

In order to refine our heart we need the Holy Spirit. The presence of God that is the perfect love, and inspiration and a residual charge.

We need the presence of God that is the living word to give us better perspective. And the praise of God to call his presence.

Psychology shows us that food/nutrition, rest from stress and annoyance, goals/helping people… are all ways to combat depression. God knew this when he helped Elijah after a crash.

Cut evil things from your life, least it drag you down. Walk away from stupidity (choughTVcough), taking it with an ounce of faith. Let go of the weights, and be set-apart. Speak love and life into the wrongs you have seen. “For if your eye causes you to sin, then cut it out.” If you see potential dates in the club, you just set the odds of no lasting relationships. REMEMBER peter started to sink into the water only when he took his eyes from Jesus.

Even the tower of Babel has significant relevant truth to who God is to us. They were joined together by one cause, and one vision. But for our own good God separated them with confusion. Only now can we truly see the strengths & weaknesses in our differences. So we can also finally see the faults of biasness.

There are two types of people in this world. Those who live by the flesh, and those who live spiritually primarily.

Those who live by the flash will live through other peoples eyes. They build themselves in order to get a response they want from others. A cynical attitude is because they present jokes/belittling as a facade to protect the vulnerability they feel.

To dress or act a certain way that gets the attention you desire, is living through other peoples eyes. Players & posers. The vain & the manipulative. It’s all designed to protect and artificial self-image. A worldly self-image. How you identify your self esteem. It’s so ramped, it’s choking out the heart of mankind. Now we want a Babylon existence. Do we buy into the right idea without living it.

God said the kingdom of heaven is in acts of love. God said the kingdom of heaven is from Jesus in your heart, thus your heart is getting purified. (else people become more and more calloused)

Tests & Trials from God are hard, because you can tell a mans charecter in hard times. But they are needed to make your life better. Sometimes religuishing control of your own life will get you through these trials. Somethimes you just have to let go of self-will and offer it up to God.

Wrong ILP. Did you intend to post this on ILoveProseltyzing.com and just got lost navigating there?

<---------Atheist for Jesus

I haven’t googled that, but I’ll bet such a thing exists. I suppose it can be rationalized by accepting that such a person really lived a couple thousand years ago, but as a spiritually advanced human, not as supernatural issue.

Of course, if that be the case, one would then have to carefully rethink how literally one takes what Jesus purportedly taught.

You are a pompous person to post a completely unreasonable posit like that in a Philosophy forum.

You cannot simply state claims without indicating logical accordance in a Philosophy forum.
You can’t even do that in a Theology forum since you don’t even use theology to make your claims.

You aren’t positing anything for discussion; you are simply preaching, and preaching to those that did not come to you is rude and more likely to shut out ears than open them up.

Empathizing with man is the first step to understanding any God.

For the record, you did not logically answer your question, “Why Christ?”

If you wanted my answer on that, considering you give me nothing but the title to work with, I would say, “Because it’s the Latin term for ‘anointed’ (loosely), so they called Jesus, ‘Christ’, as that was his claim…roughly.”

All religions are egotistical productions.

All religions are capable of followers that are egotistical evangelists.

The two are not the same.

You are thinking that religion is human vanity for no other reason than to show off how great humanity is.
Which is flawed thought.

Religion is a human effort to reach out to something beyond themselves and feel that they have a connection to something that they cannot fully understand.
It is an attempt to never have an end to wonderment.
It is an attempt, in sort, to stay a kid.

That’s not egotism. That’s idealism; like Disneyland.

However, even Disneyland has counter Disney moral businessmen that use the success of Disneyland as an ego stroke for their work.

Same is the case for Religion.

True.
But I was using the word ego in its buddhist meaning not as a western psychiatry terminology. There in buddhism the ego owes its exsistence due to fear of the unknown.

And as religion is a thought, any idea or thought should not be held as sacred.

And a child shall lead the way…

Like Heaven is better.

Too true. Alas.

Why Christ?
He was the first social philosopher to realize that might was not necessarily right and that love for neighbor is the only true answer for world peace.
I believe that the OP would be more universal if the word “religion” and all its negative connotations were were dropped and “spirituality” used instead.

I find it hard to argue against someone who, essentially, argued that it’d be good if we were all nice to each other for a change.

Doesn’t make him a Deity.

Agreed. Not unless we all are.

hehe

shrug, probably as good to the average mature mind as good as Disneyland is to a 3 or 5 year old kid.

Disneyland offers championship golf courses, good food, well-serviced accommodation and plenty attracions for my kids. If that is as close to heaven as I can get on this good earth, if I had the money, I’ll buy.

Why does a person think that someone on a philosophy board is interested in religious preaching? [-( [-(

No idea.

Perhaps because that type by definition isn’t into critical thinking to the degree necessary to understand that and, as applies to the Jehova’s Witnesses who knocked on my door this weekend, may also believe that unless they preach to the unsaved and the unwashed (of sin, that is), then their own eternal prospects may be diminished.

Religion forms the classical roots of philosophy and continues as the most profound part of it to boot. It goes all the way back to the first self-reflective thought mankind ever had.
Without the mental discipline required during all the early centuries, when man learned to read and write, trying to master the mechanics of scriptural grammar and ponder over the ultimate questions of existence, the modern analytical intellect would never have developed enough to question whether there is a God or not. We owe it all to religious disciplines. What the hell are all of you thinking about!!!

does that allow a man to think that anyone here might be interested in such futile proselityzing?

of course religion had (and has) a role in the history of human thought, but is this the place for you to try to “convert” anyone to your creed?

Philosophers are engaged in the analysis of one or another of its member’s propositions. In this sense all proposers are selling ideas with the intent that they might become fixed creeds. The propositions about the relationship between man and God and our reason for being presented in the world’s religious texts remain the most profoundly influential. I personally am not offended whenever a devotee of religion preaches chapter and verse to me. His or her sincerity of belief (as apposed to apathy) I always find encouraging and reassures me of the earnestness of the human spirit. I agree that it can be somewhat exasperating when they stick rigidly to dogma and refuse to entertain an alterante argument. But if they did not hold true to their faith in the literal Truth of their bibles, Religious Scripture would be long dead and we would all be the poorer for it.
