Why do human emotions remain a mystery?

When I mean mystery here I mean the origins of human emotion and why we can’t completely control human emotion like an on and off switch because I know a lot of people will say that they can control their emotions but I doubt that they are able to turn off or on an emotion like an electronic device.

A lot of emotion is tied to the soul. Understanding emotion objectively gets into the Reality of God and The Soul.

  • The Soul is tied to identity.
  • The Soul is the seat of passion.

Given someone identified as a Chicago Bears fan, they may have worn a lot of Bear’s paraphernalia. They wore Bear’s t-shirts, hat’s, jackets, and so on. They were one big advertisement of “Bear’s Fan Here.” A Bear’s fan, he participated in the community by watching the game every Sunday, and going to tailgate parties.

When the Bears won, a Bear’s fan, he rejoiced, he felt good. Where? In his soul. When the Bears lost, a Bears fan lamented. Where? In his soul.

What we have there with the Chicago Bears fan, it may be able to be applied to careers, ideologies, political parties, and so on. What does someone love…with their soul or identity?

Towards understanding The Soul and Emotion well, someone may have had to have lived austerely for some period of time. He needed to separate himself from family and comfort and materialistic things towards being in control and reflective of himself and his emotions.

Cause its an autonomic function. Its too baseline to be controlled.
In fact, it works in the reverse. Its how your body can exert control over your conscious part. Your decision making, your agency, your self.

And it does so with such efficiency that it doesnt even need to rationalize the message.

I guess I wonder who this ‘we’ is. It seems like it is someone whose emotions are not part of them in some sense. It’s not a perfect analogy, but ‘why can’t I turn off my liver?’. Now we can go into the practical issues of turning off your liver and think about why you can’t just turn off your liver, but also, your liver is a part of you.

Why can’t we turn off the part of us that wants to turn off the emotions? I’m not trying to be annoying with that question, but mightn’t there be emotion urges that leads us to want to turn off emotions or some of them or all of them but that one?

There are ways one can gain incredible control over your emotions. You could meditate for years. Joining the army or any very top down controlled environment where you will get punished for emotional expression will slowly lead to much more control of emotions. There are other ways to do this.

What emotions do you want to be able to turn off? Why? What would you do when your emotions are turned off?

A good place to experience that is a park…or anywhere. I just sit and observe everything that I can. I would listen to everything that I could hear without thought. Thought comes let it fly by. Just “being” a part of everything in existence. Total aloneness yet a part of all things. It’s bliss without the feeling of bliss…

It’s better than a vacation. One can call it a vacation in another realm.lol
