Why do Jews reject Christ as their Messiah?

Many Jewish people reject Jesus as their Messiah because they don’t take into account ALL the Tanakh prophecies concerning the Messiah. Many Jews believe that the Messiah will establish a physical kingdom on earth and that Messiah will be simply a man and not God. One can prove with the Hebrew Scriptures that Messiah is God also and that it was prophesied that Messiah would die a violent death atone man’s sin and would reconcile the people back to God. It was prophesied that Messiah would make two appearances. First time-- to die for the sins of the people and the second time, to establish a physical Kingdom upon this earth in the future. So given this scripture, why is that Jews reject Christ as the Messiah?

I assume because they don’t think the guy that died was the one prophesied. The ones that were there saw what they considered faults and said “nope, it’s not him”. The children trusted their parents’ judgement and on down the line until the present day. There is no way to prove them wrong.

now get over it. we know you believe all that stuff. it won’t change our minds. you have one way of explaining we, we have another.

I dont want to change your mind…no no …i just want to here what you reasoning is for rejecting the words of the Prophets.

well there it is. that’s the most extensive site around. there is the reasoning. you rely on certain sources jews don’t.

asking a question like this is ridiculous because you’re acting like jews have no reason. “he fulfilled everything…” blah blah blah. do a simple search. what’s the point of asking this question? if you don’t know why jews reject him, why do you bother accepting him? why don’t you learn both sides of the argument before making a decision?

I have learned both sides of the argument and i have read the sciptures and have come up with overwhelming evidence that points to Jesus Christ.

Sources like Isaiah, Daniel, Zechariah?

koifer, are you an actual jew? Would be nice to know that this board actually has other religious groups. I would like to hear a muslim give his opinion as to whether Jesus was the messiah or a prophet and if God had children.

Muslims actaully believe Jesus was the Messiah, but they dont believe he is God.

In Islam, Jesus (Arabic: عيسى, commonly transliterated as Isa) is considered one of God’s most beloved and most important prophet, a bringer of divine scripture, a worker of miracles, and the Messiah. However, Muslims do not share the Christian belief in the crucifixion or divinity of Jesus. Muslims believe that Jesus’ crucifixion was a divine illusion and that he ascended bodily to heaven. Most Muslims also believe that he will return to the earth in the company of the Mahdi once the earth has become full of sin and injustice at the time of the arrival of Islam’s Antichrist-like Dajjal.

orthodox and unbelieving? i’m an atheist muslim suicide bomber…

Hello Soldout:

“Muslims actaully believe Jesus was the Messiah, but they dont believe he is God.”

I asked muslims about this and what they tell me is that Jesus was a messenger to his people, just as Mohammed was a messenger as well.
"The Prophet Muhammad said: “Whoever believes that there is no deity except God, alone without partner, that Muhammad is his messenger, that Jesus is the servant and messenger of God”.
That levelling of Jesus down to the level of Mohammed is significant as a witness of the jewish perspective on the matter. Was the Messiah to be God? No. A servant of God. Does the Virgin Birth, which muslims attest, make Jesus equal to God or God incarnate? No, for they hold that as blasphemy. It is a means of delivery of His servant. The muslims took the heretical view of the time that Jesus was another creature of God, not the Johannine version of the co-eternal Word, but a creature like Adam, reserved great glory but as one among others that are close to God. He was, in Catholic jargon, no more than another prophet.

Back to your question: Why do Jews reject Christ as their Messiah?
Perhaps you should start by what the “Messiah” was defined as for the jews at the time and even today.

I’m stuck in a community that forces me to think and act as a believer, but I secretly don’t.

His there are many things prophesied that Jesus could not have had control over like his Birth place being in Bethleham. Most of what was written about Jesus was writen by His deciples who spent their days with Him. They were divinely inspired by God. Most of what has been prophesied in the New testament is happening as we speak because God knows the End for the Beginning.

this is not a fact but its your opinion based on a conspiracy theory you read online. Just an FYI for every major event in world history there is a conspiracy theory. There are even hundreds of conspiracy theories that argue that the Holocaust never happened. So i am not the least bit surprised that there are lunitics out there who argue that Jesus did not exists. I cant figure out who is more insane, the people who write these conspiracy theories or the ones who read and believe them…lol

this question was actually directed to Jews not athiests. Because you dont even believe in the old testament anyway. My Question is to a Jew who believe the Old Testament. You dont so your imput in this discussion is useless.

tell me about it. how can you call the NT fact?

hahah…lol…lol…the new testament is a fart…lol…lol  thats the funniest conspiracy theory i have ever heard! you really made me and my co workers laugh with this one… you made my day Turtle…lol no joke. I put your thoeries right next to the one that says 911 never happened and the world trade center is still there. I cant figure out though which, your theory or the 9’11 one made me laugh the hardest. You are insane…lol

The entire Bible is Truth. But since you have said you are an unbelieving Jew then your imput to this discussion will be of no use. It is sad though that you dont see that everything that has happened to the Nation of Israel in recent days was prophesied thousands of years ago. God is real and He knows the End from the Beginning.

Could you give me a bite sized take on your opinion of the NT? (no hidden agenda…just interested)

You should be flattered, that is the funniest thing i have heard this year…lol
