Why does in-action get such a bad rap?

yes, i’m looking at my cat right now laying on my bed. He does this everyday without complaint and i’ve never had the urge to call him lazy, a name he might even be proud of if he could understand the complexities of language, but still he has no interest in that either. In this way, animals are superior to the human animal.

Its not about lifestyle, only survival.

To me the survival gesture of simplicity is one of authenticity versus the constructed “ought” of man which is full of pretenses and hypocrisies.

The simplicity of merely surviving from day to day in mere being is the absence of pretenses and hypocrisies.

The civilized man who believes he can change the word through his constructed conceived actions in ideologies is merely digging himself in a hole that someday he will trap himself in forever through his own actions.

I find that a society that is increasingly complex, so complex a computer device was invented to deal with these complexities beyond our calculation to be far from rational. We depend on computers now, and that dependence could very well lead to our distruction as a species. Evolution calls for this. What starts as symbiotic relationship ends in the survival of the fittest, or in this case, survival of the best informed. I think future computers and machines will win out. You may scoff at the idea, but you’re grandkids will be born/wake up in a virtual world devoid and detached from reality. They will have some many fake identies, they will know nothing of their true self. Explain to them how this is rational.

Y3K anyone?

In a sense that isn’t the future. That is our present reality right now if you really give time to think about it.

Read the book: Simulations by Jean Baudrillard. ( I think you would like that.)

“Technology does not make things easier, it only makes things difficult in new and different ways”

Cool, dude, I’ll check it out. Spread that info.

.

I think you would like Jean Baudrillard. He is the guy that compared civilization to disney land or an amusement park.

( My kind of philosopher.)

( We truely live in a Mickey Mouse world.)

Let me get something straight.

Some of you say that I’ve got the literal translation of non- action or the practice of “not doing” . . .wrong. I understand that my interpretation is off, but I dont fully mind that.

Look, I like taoism, but I will never be a all-out taosist based on my western upbringing and my western environment. I do things a monk would never understand, and yes the monks are full of busy moments too when they sweep the mountain steps free of leaves. I understand that.

I’m just saying as a westerner, if i can spend even 15 minutes a day without entertaining myself, then I’m doing pretty good for myself. Call it the Tao of Me.

My point is I notice a ton of americans doing things for the sake of doing things, for the sake of filling some void where they never look at themselves inwardly. They have some weekend free so they decide they are going start a garden, not because it is peaceful to do so, but that sitting on the porch watching the sun set causes them to ask questions of their existence that they cant stand to Face Head On. This is a weakness, and they compensate by building massive stuctures in the name of country building and productivity. Funk that!

Just dont call me lazy, because you dont understand my ability to enjoy boredom.

I think in order to stay to the center, you first have to locate the center. I do this by embracing extremes until I’ve discovered the limits, then I know the distance of the scale, then I can actually go to the center without any delusions about where exactly it is.

Really liked how you expressed this. I agree. Extremes are hard to “embrace” though. Cant hold on to them long.

Just try not to OD, murder anyone, become homeless, or catch a disease and I think for all practical purposes my system will work.

Funny I’ve come close to all of these. The center of the circle cant come soon enough for me.

Life’s a bitch, try and dodge the frying pans.

Life’s a bitch is also a song by Nas.

Americans value doers more than thinkers. It makes sense, you need a lot more doers thank thinkers to stay ahead of the competition. The best of us are great at both.

Granted competition does exist, I’m just thinking we could ease off the pedal to the metal aspect of it all.

No, we’re in competition with ourselves too along with others. You eat your lunch or someone else from inside or outside will eat it for you.

I’m not afraid to say I dont understand your point.

Americans compete with each other as well as with other countries. If you ease up on the pedal someone else will just come along and take it from you.

A world wide effort to ease up is what i’m calling for, not just americans. I know this an ideal. But unless, we as human race stop the pursuit to perfect artificial intelligence, evolution will have its way with us. I see this as more of probablitiy, than chance. Its almost inevitable.

The universe is abundant, there is no need to be competing for resources in a warfare way. Unless we act as one, doomsday scenarios will continue to exist.
