Why does the human rat race exist?

Um I guess because the world is not a uniform perfect landscape of equality of outcomes, talents, desires, situations? ut yes the rate race, that is a consequence of competition is the way to win in this world. We must take from someone else, a zero sum game. And most people want to win

Then the zero sum game becomes global and in the process we create environmental conditions that kills everyone overtime.

Human civilization should come with warning labels, signs, or something.

Yes and I think it means because we did evolve from apes, we are very warlike by our nature, selfish and greedy for more power and to always win. We bash the other guys head in if he has a nickel that we want. Empathy and understanding and ethics were discovered later, maybe too late.

What number of people on earth do you think operate with awareness and high respect for those values like empathy, understanding and ethics? I think it is around 10% or a little less, maybe 5%. The rest are somewhere on the spectrum of narcissism and violence to get what they want to win.

In a world of animals like that, even consciousness and the human soul isn’t going to save us. The reason we survived this far is just because the world is so big, even when humans kill each other there are still enough leftover and in other places to keep going. Now with AI and death technology being so strong, it is possible for the human war-urge to take the whole world.

I would have said no, humans somewhere will always survive but that was before AI. Once AI is smart enough it can kill all of us, even the isolated tribes in the Amazon for example. This planet will become something strange and metallic in the future, devoid of most organic life while machines encircle the globe. The atmosphere will probably turn toxic since the machines won’t care anyway, maybe more toxic air benefits them in some ways? Well it helps keep the pesky organic human creatures from coming back or other animals from repopulating too much.
