Why does YouTube comments attract children instead of the types of people that are attracted to this place mature adults?

I asked this question obviously assuming from what I read in the YouTube comments that a lot of the time the commenters are either children or teenagers or young adults who are very immature and that’s a shame because it casts a picture that most of humans are immature and it’s not good for the rest of us.

I bet you $500 bucks the majority of them are middle-aged drunks. Don’t read the comments.

When someone tries to make a serious conversation in Youtube comments, very often receives immature responses. Thus, this person gets discouraged to continue participating in such discussions.

This is not true only for the Youtube comments section, it is more general. Just observe in many aspects of everyday life. As examples: a) see the shows on TV. Lifestyle talks, sex scandals and all sort of immature topics get the best ratings. b) In political talk shows, unless there is a “heated” discussion often accompanied with insults, noone is interested in listening a polite and mature dialogue with thoughtful arguments.
