Why is it that people who use slang and acronyms are teenagers and young adults?

Why aren’t there as many middle aged and old people on social media and who post internet comments ? Why are these things majority teenagers and young adults ?

It’s all ages, but I think younger folk try harder because they are individuating with each other as a group.

It’s kind of funny (and in some cases, a little suspish) when adults try hard to speak the language. But they used to be kids, too, and they probably miss it.

I still talk the way I talked when I was young, but now if they didn’t bring it forward into their own culture, it’s considered old … and I don’t care.

I don’t know why I’m replying to this.

Older folk don’t have identity issues. Or at least… their identity is more … calcified. Until that midlife crisis hits. Or they’re near death & know it. Depending how solid their identity is.

This is the age breakdown of facebook users:

So i have no idea what you are even basing your idea on.
Literally everyone is commenting on the internet and you can rest assured that most of them are at least using emojis, but pretty sure that even the most antique of individuals stick to their own local slang words and concepts.

Acronyms (actually initialisms) are wanky and certainly not ‘age specific’. They are the demonic offspring of the ‘language’ of meaningless American corporate bullshitism. When people use them inappropriately without caring whether or not the person they are addressing knows what the fuck they mean then all it does is show them up as a mental defective.

Antique. Very nice.

I don’t think that means what you think it means

What does a downvote here mean beyond “i dont like the answer”?
