Why is the Bible called the Bible?

Can anyone answer this?

The guy who wrote it used the money he made to kill off his enemy William. He named it accordingly.

The Latin Fathers, Jerome and Isidore, called the Scriptures “The Sacred Library” (Divina Bibliotheca) and it is this collective idea which the name “Bible” carries with it.

…wow. i expected to come into this thread and hear a lot of people saying “why does it matter?” but there was an actual answer to the question. i didn’t know anybody knew that.

Actually yes,

Byblos was a Phoenician town on the Med whose primary export was papyrus for books and Scrolls. When the Greeks began intellectualizing they used the Metaphor byblos for all their Books. Add this to the above latinate explanation and there you have it.
