Why Nietzsche is misunderstood or why does he look “contradictory” in his thoughts? “It is much more important what someone wants than what someone is” - Friedrich Nietzsche, so he speaks once in superlatives about Bismarck, how great he is, and then about Hohenzollern as the worst offspring on Earth, with the exception of Friedrich the Great. If that is so, then was it a mistake not clearly to differ those two qualities from each other or would it be unwise to do so?
In my opinion it would be unwise, we know that Nietzsche is a big fighter against decadence and to decay(not to want something higher than yourself or even who you are) is typical for higher races, but now we have a bunch of democrats/decadents who are contradictory in themselves who want to adapt Nietzsche to the popular thought of our age, including all those The Doors admirers on the board. Nietzsche is often seen as contradictory, because of his use of perspectivism. Different perspectives exist beside eachother and there really is no problem if they would contradict eachother… in fact if perspectivism is understood propperly, it doesn’t really make sense to speak of contradictions outside of a given perspective.
Life is a journey, where ‘a’ [the beginning] is where and what you are now, and ‘b’ is what you will become. Ones wants are what >drives<* us and makes us strive for improvement, to become ‘c’. When we see a lack of that in others [with respect to our perspectives], then we see them as only ‘a’ & without potential ‘c’.
This is true if it were the case that some people are not attempting to become ‘c’. However, Nietzsche also considered the ‘drive’* to be a universal, like a force that permeates everything. Nature, evolution and our very sense of self-moving-forwards, are that force, and so we are all attempting to become ‘c’. In short, when collected together and placed in parallel, the two philosophies clearly contradict one another.
Nietzsche just wanted to think his ‘c’ was greater than a given others, and his perceived lacking in others was simple oneupmanship thinking. People who are into power always try to substantiate their superiority, by pointing out an apparent lacking in others. Little realizing that we are all the same [‘a’], and situation is what derives difference/lacking.
If he is misundstood by a huge margin, as his supporters like to claim, he is the first one to be blamed before anyone else.
Why he is not clear in his ideas? Who asked him to use such twisted language in philosophy?
Philosophy is not meant for poetic language. That may be an asset in literature but not less than a crime in philosophy.
Though it is not possible to understand and interpret anyone else perfectly because of the limitations of the language, but a philosopher should not add to the problem by using ambiguous language from his end. That is an intellectual duty of a philosopher.
He was adressing a specific audience… he even explicitly said so himself. You can’t really blame someone writing a specialist book on ‘metalevel thinking in high stakes no limit texas holdem poker’ for not making it more understandable for someone who never even played poker.
