overcome”… going from animal to becoming human is what Ni. means… he
holds that the “Ubermensh” is someone who overcomes their “education”
and it become quite clear when Ni. writes of morality…for Ni. overcoming is
overcoming our indoctrinations which is most clear in how we view morality…
how are we to view morality if there is no god? and in fact, that was the
mission of Ni. in his later years…to overcome god as a baseline for morality
and have morality being drawn from their being human values… which is why Ni.
emphasized this question of a “reevaluation of values” …
this is the overcoming Ni. wrote about, not holding metaphysical values like
god values like humility or other “slave values”… Ni. thought that we should hold
human values, but the Aristocratic values of Greece…and those values, while holding
to what he thought were “higher” values, they were still human values… not dependent
on metaphysical values like the values of a god…if you want a beat on the
“higher” and yet human values of Ni. the best bet is to read
Aristotle “Nicomachean Ethics”… those are the values that Ni. was trying to bring about…
these are the “higher” values of the Aristocratic man…the “master” values of morality…
not the ‘‘Christian’’ values that Christianity brought about during that long time period
known as the Medieval period…the “slave” morality… about being humble and kindness
empathy and sympathy… whereas the “Master” morality was about pride and personal personal
power…and who did Nietzsche praise? those who were in control of themselves…
those who were most “free spirited” and created their own values… he was in
particular, fond of Goethe…as a free spirit who created their own values…
for to create one’s own values requires strength of character… which the “slave”
doesn’t have but the “higher” person has in abundance… and this creation of values
from the abundance of spirit is, perhaps one of the most important aspects of
Ni… creators create from an abundance of spirit, not from a lack of spirit…and
Ni. held that came from those who were “Aristocrats” in nature… it all ties together,
at least in Ni. mind… so, the “Ubermensch” was really someone who was able to
create from an abundance of spirit and create their own values… someone like
Goethe…that is why Ni. was against any who was unable to control themselves,
in any manner… like being unable to control yourself to stop drinking or taking drugs…
being in control was a very important aspect of Ni. belief system… and he felt
that only “Aristocrats” in spirit were best able to control themselves, mentally,
physically, emotional, intellectually…thus those who hold that the word
"Ubermensh’ means someone who lords over those who have only “slave” values

Getting stronger as in the process of the camel, has nothing with overcoming yourself. You have collected extrinsic values from the society and you fight them later as the lion. In the process of becoming stronger the extrinsic values give no strength. You may taste them, you may try them out (vegetarianism) but they never become a part of your being. As soon as you have sensed their harmful effects you reject them. No need to “overcome yourself”!
“Overcoming yourself”, “controlling yourself” is what Christians want you to do while doubting in yourself, while becoming a bad conscience. The only goal is to add more power and strength to yourself. Don’t overcome your power!

There was some completely unnecessary behaviour directed towards me in some other threads, but I feel first of all that disagreements are inherently a bit contentious, so I can accept a bit of “are you too stupid to understand?” directed at me without any moderator action, and I also don’t want to moderate simply because an insult is directed at me in particular, without giving other people the same benefit of that moderation - I don’t want to protect myself above others, I don’t think that would be fair.
His comments were reported by someone else, so that brings it up to the level of worth considering moderator action for me.
