Self study is:
Psychology. Medicine. Genetics. Philosophy-in-general.
Study of the outside world is all other things.
I believe that self-study, study of the species and the self, is more important, because:
A human body is more simple then the universe.
Deep enough understanding of self = solution for the problems of self.
Genetics will lead to controlled, cooperative, shared evolution.
The Human Genome Project is a form of philosophy?
Introspection and self-study as you say are very important but on the other hand aren’t humans define dby the universe/enviroment in which they exist? To fully understand the self one must understand how the self and not-self relate to all the other self and not selfs. Humans and their enviroment are too interconnected to consider one part more important. Study of the world is in effect study of ourselves.
I’m damn excited about all the possibillities of the field of genetics!

Well, to answer the thread question:
We’re all part of the universe, but the self is the part we’re most familiar with.
I think we should take a step, before we run a mile.
Understanding the human genome would be that first step, IMO.
Once we can change and rebuild what we are entirely, then we are fit to change or rebuild the world around us…?
If my body could connect to a computer, then share information, I would then be able to upload the memories of my entire immune system.
Next, 10 million people would download for a few minutes, thus preventing many diseases from effecting the 10 million, after the victory of the one.
Genetics will become an information technology.
We will buy, sell, share, update and hack genetic codes – far later in human history.
You will not say: “I would like 100MB more ram”, in the future times you will say: “I would like 20 more IQ, please.”
And for a price, it will be yours.
Those posessing billions of dolors will own the best upgrades.
Their upgrades will render them even more adept at getting more upgrades, and more money.
Inequality of wealth will become inequality of genetic superiority & natural ability.
The future of the non-communist world will be that of an absolute inequality.
You can keep buying a better and faster car but it’s still a vehicle that you have to drive.
Why study and think, why not just go do what you feel like doing.
And if you feel like you want to kill. Then I suppose either you are sick, or the moral instinct from other people are sick.
