Withholding Knowledge Equals More Power

Not only does knowledge equal power…

Withholding knowledge equals more power!

I took this seminar type philosophy class called “strategic implications of uncertainty”. It was neat.

The name itself sounds neat.

But lets not forget who said these things in the first place,

“The pen is mightier than the sword” -Edward Bulwer-Lytton (play write)

“Knowledge is power” -Francis Bacon (essayist)

Sounds just as much like tooting your own horn… or delusions of grandeur.

I am merely adding to things in ways that you do not yet comprehend…

Don’t forget that by projecting disinformation equals even more power than withholding it. :-$

In other words, lying equals power.

Deception is one of the oldest practices favored by men.

In many particular cases, you two are very, very correct on this.

We can talk about how men and women have evolved differently and are susceptible to each other’s lies if we want…?

:sunglasses:

I’d love to talk about what they taught me, but I dunno…

depending on the knowledge , true

this has been going on for hundreds if not thousands of yrs

so now what ?

Awareness is the answer to all human problems. Not to be taken lightly. If it weren’t for dumb people, the world would be a utopia.

true awarness is important and it could solve alot of problems

but dumb is a relative term

by the way I don’t want a utopian world

That’s oxymoronic because a utopian world represents what you want.

how so ?

Lying (which is a deliberate withholding of necessary knowledge) equals more power, that’s why we have politicians to begin with.

actually the reason we have politicians to begin with is to have a person who represents the people , at least initially

Greeks

My how things change…

Or, the politicians are in fact representing the people–stupid people–that is.

certainly the role of the politician has changed

and the politicians were not paid ( surprised eh ) because of the fear of corruption

and in some ways your right we have become stupid , it is the people who have let this happen but at the sametime if the History of the politician was taught in high school maybe that would bring back the fundamental purpose of the politician

a good thing
