You see I only had to skim and see the words “on average more selfish” and now I believe his writing to have some good point.
A topic on the different sexes is always heated, true. It can seem to be offensive but you’d always hope people will have enough intelligence to see the ‘in general’ and ‘on average’.
You only need to go as far as to say woman are generally more selfish because men prominently have been the providers. Woman for the most part arent begging for a man, men usually have to do the begging. It’s not womans fault, they’re just acting as they natural will. It’s all psychology. As pathetic as it may sound fastseduction101.com is halfway right in the workings of woman. This site teaches men how to combat womens games that they purposeful or naturally play. Woman in general feel the same things, they feel turned off when men are too aggressive, they feel turned off when men have no money or security, things like this are ‘in generals’ and ‘in generals’ are what i believe we must speak of.
It’s evolution man. Like you said women have alot more to lose than men when it comes to children. They need to be sure a man can provide for and protect the family. That is why they tend to go for more succesful men. In some circumstances if the woman thinks that a not-so rich man would maintain a long term relationship they would choose him over a rich man that they veiw likely to leave in a couple weeks. They may cheat on their poorer companion in order to produce an offspring with better genes. This would be huge risk, though, becuase if she got caught she may be without a provider with her child.

But how selfish/unselfish a majority of women are depends also upon race, era and especially upon culture.
What you write in the O.P. is presented as something with a scientific edge, but it’s not scientific at all, it’s speculation with a fake thin front of sophistication.
I think realunoriginal is talking about being more selfish in a only certian aspects of life, like mating and dating. I think there is something to it, but I am unsure if this “selfishness” can be reflected to other daily activities. I can see how it could be veiwed as selfish to date men that provide for you better but I would like some examples of other circumstances where it would be benificial for a woman to be selfish.

Accourding to you’re statement (please correct me if I am wrong) Women are more selfish then men from a reproduction standpoint. If this is the case, then we own our current evolutionary condition to them don’t we?
Actually - Men and Women are equally to blame for our condition. 
Men are just as vested in continuing our species as women. For example, They have been known to take on several wives at a time and they have been known to pick only virgins as wives too. Lets not even go into genital mutilation or making them hide thier appearance almost completely. I think these things are done to ensure a particular mans seed gets carried on and not another. I would call that pretty selfish.

You are right, Vesting in something is not the same as selfishness but I never said it was. In the following sentences after you quoted me I describe a few ways I think Men are just as ‘selfish’ as women in regards to sex and reproduction.

You know I think if you exchange the word selfish for protective you would be more accurate. Selfish is a word you are using to enflame controversy. It has little to do with what you describe. You are describing protective in women. I can’t agree with what you wrote in general because women today are at a real crossroad. do we have kids or do we have careers or do we try to do both. so protective or selfish plays second fiddle to; what the heck do we do?
I saw a few commercials recently for kid things that sort of irked me. things designed for boys were career orientated and the toys for girls were dolls and an indoor playhouse with washing machines, oven etc… that will help her find her dreams? I about gagged. My poor husband and son had to listen to my tirade. I felt like I was in the 50s with leave it to Beaver.
One thing folks love to say about tough successful career women is that they are bitches. Perhaps they nurture and protect their career like they would be nurturing and protecting their children? Using the same inner drive. A highly protective nurturing mother can be quite bitchy should you do something to her kids. Same as a career woman. Did you all ever think of that?

Personally, this is my impression of anyone whose got a successful career going, man or woman. You have to be a jerk (in the right circumstances, in the right way) to get ahead.
Selfish and self-protective attitudes are incidental to survival and success, which I find incredibly uninteresting. A lot of problems could be solved on the basis that everyone were selfish. Sadly, this is far from accurate.
I have more interest in self-destructive and outward-destructive, contradicting, exacerbating tendencies. I’m particularly interested in that quality with women. But then, I think of such analyses as fruitless.
A common example of actual conversations I’ve had, in these words more or less: “I hate men” / “Then why don’t you kill some?” / “What would that solve?” / “Forget it.”
See, this is something that irks me. Our society tends to turn a blind eye when women say things like “I hate men” or “Men are scum” and so they say it freely all the time. But replace the word “men” with “jews” or “blacks” or “gays”, and it becomes shocking how biggoted it sounds.
