Hola amigos! I’ve been doing some writing lately, and wondered what other people who write use as inspirational music. For example, if you’re writing a mystery you might listen to suspenseful ‘Sherlock Holmes feeling’ music. I’m currently creating a quasi mysterious/magical writing, and wonder what you guys would listen to for that kind of novel.
So share your ideas, and help me out with a few suggestions if you would! Thanks!
By the way, in my humble opinion, piano/Danny Elfman kind of music does wonders for inspiration when writing.
These are the most mysterious magical things I’ve got in my library.
Mystic Rhythms - Rush
Xanadu - Rush
Osmosis- Liquid Tension Experiment
Osmosis is an instrumental by very talented musicians mostly from the band Dream Theater. If you listen to it, listen to it in stereo. Hopefully you’ll pick up why Same goes for Mystic Rhythms, actually; definitely need stereo sound.
Massive Attack makes very dark and mysterious music, check them out.
Thom Yorke’s The Eraser, is also very dark and mysterious. You should check the whole album out.
I wouldn’t rule out more obvious ones either, by which I mean Pink Floyd I think you might find the album Meddle very inspirational. ‘A Pillow of Winds’ and ‘Echoes’ in particular.
