Hello everyone
This is my first post on this forum and I can tell I will find alot of interesting information on here. Let me give you a run down of what it is I’m doing.
I have suffered from emotional disorders for the majority of my life (anxiety, depression) and through therapy and self-help I have come along way. I’ve started doing alot of writing (mostly for personal pleasure) and reading on psychology to get a better understanding of emotional disorders. I find psychology very interesting because it has played a big part in who I am today as well as in my friends. I decided to combine my new found interest in writing and psychology and assign myself a topic too write about. I’ve decided to write about emotional disorders. What constitutes it as a “disorder” and why we has humans tend to hold onto emotional pain when it is such an unpleasant experience. This isn’t a dead set thesis but I would like to either write about these or something along these lines. I am not doing this paper for a class I am doing it for fun and for the people who were kind enough to fill out questioners for me. My hope is it gives them some insight to their emotional problems and maybe help them to better themselves. I was recently told by my psychiatrist and my mentor to look into book on philosophy as “break reading” from my psychology reading. I bought a book on “Philosophy Made Simple” and have has a hard time putting it down. I am in no way an expert in the topic, I know very little but I feel I could incorporate some philosophy into my research paper.
What I was wondering is if some of you here could give me some philosophy books to check out that could be beneficial to my paper. I don’t really have a time frame for when the paper needs to be done and I really want to write a good one so I’m not going to rush things. So if I have to read a bunch of books and it takes me a year then I’m fine with that. I would really appreciate any recommendations that would be beneficial to my paper. Thanks
