You say

You can stand there alone
I’ll stand here
and hope
You won’t
But that’s why you do

I know what you want
It’s not who I am
But I am
you too

and what’s why you knew, when you said:

“See me smile, see my eyes. Make me laugh, but not inside”

And I know you were wrong
but I won’t point it out
Just wait
wait, that’s why I wait

Just a tick of my hand
Just a drop of the sand
It’s a day gone by
inside I cry

When you sigh, when you say,

“See my smile? See my eyes? You make me laugh, not inside”

That’s so interesting.

I’m admittedly not nearly as deep of a thinker as many of you here are, so could you explain this to me? I interpreted that poem to mean that someone was playing games of some sort with you, knowing you care, yet keeping you at arm’s length.

Am I anywhere in the ballpark?

the first half is supposed to be a sense of ‘she likes him but not in that way’ and lets him know. The second half is supposed to be a sense of desperation, wherein the voice starts to get obsessed with the girl and she hasn’t changed her mind.

Oh, okay! I didn’t get that at all when I read it. Thanks for the explanation!
