My favorite is the western tradition. Some eastern philosophies is alright like the Tao or certain philosophical sects of Hinduism.
My problem with eastern philosophy is its reducing of everything to mysticism.
Value ontology. Never before has a philosophy given me cause to re-evaluate my real life in such a profound way.
I dunno whether it counts as Eastern or Western.
Apparently you’ve just recently been sufficiently introduced to Easter-n-factorial philosophy.
Thank you for telling us.
Eventually, after realising that there is more to philosophy (values) than Western philosophy will adequately concentrate upon, you will slowly realise that Eastern philosophy does not serve you in the Western climate, and you will turn to economic philosophy in order to reconcile Western realities with more Eastern ideologies. Keep us updated.
I’ve not heard from Xunian in ages. He’s contributed only 2 posts since January this year, the last being mid-August.
Well, Xunzian better get his butt back over here. He was a main contributor and great philosopher!
Buddhism serves me quite well here in the western world.
My favorite kind of philosophy is the kind that informs my entire approach to life, rather than just being something to think about. This can be either eastern or western, though these days the western traditions seem pretty deficient in that department. For example, Hume looked closely at selfhood, cause and effect, etc. - and so do the most sophisticated Buddhist philosophers. But there seems to be a pretty big difference between the two when it comes to assessing the import of the thought experiments, logical explorations, etc. involved.
A tri-integrated philosophy, which is reflective of my Triumvirateness, and which I utilise for reconciliation of those parts.
History of philosophy.
