I know philosophical zombies - i.e. human like beings with desires but without high level conscious self awareness are used to argue about the nature of consciousness.
But I was wondering about their rights?
What rights are owed to zombies, or robots, or even animals…?
(where the scale seems to be mainly based on how cuddly they are)
Do rights derive from “humanness” or would a tax paying zombie be
entitled - even if they couldn’t enjoy them.
Where does the idea of “rights” come from any way? (French/American revolutions??)
and who decides what rights are and how they are earned or given out?
