the danger in seeking meaning and purpose....

I have advocated seeking and finding one’s own meaning
and purpose, but it does have a negative side…it can lead us into
holding onto beliefs that are dangerous and destructive…

an example of this is in “Trumpism”… the attempt to find meaning
and purpose in something greater then ourselves can lead people
to join and perpetuate very dangerous ism’s and ideologies…

the need of people to find meaning and purpose has lead to very
dangerous ism’s like nationalism, white power, Trumpism,
and the evangelical movement in America and elsewhere…

and the need to serve something bigger then me has lead people
to such things as the military… what is the point of the military?
“to protect” and yet, to be in service of such actions as Vietnam
and the longest war in American history, Afghanistan isn’t really
a mark of something that is bigger then ourselves…

but the goals that were achieved in the first World War
and the Second World War did achieve something that was
bigger then ourselves… so how do we know when we are just
fighting the “just cause?”

who actually benefited from those wars? for example, who actually
benefited from our engagement in Vietnam? certainly not the
Vietnamese…nor did America per se, but the vast military industrial complex
certainly did benefit… so that war was fought to make companies money,
as was the long Iraqi and the recently ended Afghanistan war was meant to serve…

for think about it, in 20 years of war, what was the actual result? in other words,
who benefited the most from such a long war? the only group that made out was
the military industrial complex… they were the only group or people who
truly benefited from the long Afghanistan war…nobody else benefited…

and think about all those Megachurches that exists in say, Texas…
who actually benefits from those? basically those who run them…
Joel Osteen net worth is somewhere north of 50 million dollars…
and some say he is worth 100 million dollars… someone is worth
100 million dollars preaching the word of god? I can point out for sure
one person who has benefited from those who desire to serve and
reach for something better, Joel Osteen has certainly benefited,
but I can’t point out another single person who has benefited from
that belief of wanting to serve something bigger then ourselves outside
of Joel Osteen… and the military industrial complex…

the honest human emotion of wanting to serve something bigger then ourselves
has been manipulated into serving such dangerous organizations as the military
and megachurches like the one Osteen has build up…

so, you want to be part of something bigger then yourself, admirable
goal, but at what cost? and there is a cost for every action we do,
has a cost…

so joining the military to serve something bigger then ourselves or
joining a church to serve god as he is something bigger then ourselves
sounds all noble and all, but has it really be done in the name of serving
something that is bigger then ourselves or have we been manipulated into
serving a military or church that simple takes advantage of our need to
serve something greater then ourselves?

in wanting to serve something bigger then yourself, a truly admirable
goal, check to be sure who is exactly being helped? is it Joel Osteen or
the corrupted military that only exists to serve large companies to
make money?

who benefits is a very important question to ask when wondering
about serving something bigger then ourselves…
