if we can sort out various philosophical periods, Pre-Socratic, the main-stream
Greek philosopher, the Hellenistic, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance,
and Modern philosophies of Existentialism and Analytic philosophy…
we might be able to say, without too much fear of contradiction,
that the most important philosophical period ever was the Enlightenment period…

But Kropotkin, why?

for the first time ever, we collectively engaged in our prejudices,
our superstitions, both individually and collectively…

for the first time, we correctly rooted/named our religions, as prejudice,
as superstitions…that for the first time, we could see and understand
the damage that holding to prejudice/superstitions causes us…

holding to prejudice, a superstition prevents us from seeing the ‘‘truth’’…

an example of this is the conservative mantra that a person cannot ‘‘change
their spots’’ who they are…once born, good or evil, one cannot change…
this prejudice/superstition prevents us from seeing people as they truly are,
existing as possibilities for good or evil or indifferent…

we can, as human beings, as one of our possibilities, we can choose to be good,
or we can choose to be evil… both exists as possibilities that we can achieve,
if we so tried…

and within those choices, lies what it means to be human…to be human
means to be able to choose your own possibility…whatever that
choice is, is yours…

the Enlightenment period is the first time that we can view ourselves as
prejudices/superstitious people… that my beliefs in god, for example
is prejudice/superstitious… and not rational or logical…but irrational,
illogical…

we have yet to make much headway from the enlightenment period because
we have yet to understand what holding on to superstitions like religion
and god, actually means… we find ourselves living in truth, instead of
seeking the truth… and that makes all the difference in the world…if I do not
hold the truth, then I must seek it, if I hold the truth, then why bother seeking it?

and philosophy begins with seeking, not with holding the truth like in
religions or faith…

so we have to learn to seek, not in holding onto the truth, but in seeking the truth…

that is where we need to be and where we are not right now…

so let us finish what the enlightenment started and begin to seek the truth,
not in holding the truth…
