The Future

I believe “Human Progress” on Earth is finished.

Most of humanity is complacent and unmotivated, lazy and apathetic, throughout the entire world and especially the United States and “Western Culture”. Surely the poor people of the world want to enjoy such luxuries and immerse themselves into ‘rich’ urban environments – however this occurs more and more as time passes via immigration and forced-immigration policies (to appeal to “Social Justice”). Technology has raised the lowest of the low. Even those in Africa are now quickly receiving Western technologies and comforts that they did not have before.

The result of all this Excess was a worldwide Boon of art, entertainment, culture, and industry from 1960 to 2010. However, since 2010, these progressions have ‘plateaued’ and stagnated. Across the world, a lull has occurred of cultural progress. Movies, television shows, entertainment are all repackaged and “rebooted”. The glory of the last generations is regurgitated for the new generations. Yet, nothing ‘new’ is produced. This falling-off has coincided with political tumult in the United States, an uneasiness and anxiousness reflected throughout the political and cultural sphere.

Perhaps the only area that has continued to progress unabated, are The Sciences, embodied foremost by Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos.

An age and era of Space Exploration, Colonization, and Settlement is nearer everyday. This is a prospect of much promise, hope, and inspiration. Humanity has much to look forward to in this area, but much less, across the globe in areas which most have found their routine and habitual pleasures. Quite frankly, I feel that humanity has become bored with itself. Struggle and sacrifice has become yet another Consumer Artifice. It appears to be a struggle more for meaning and purpose than anything else. Even the political battles (like in the United States) are essentially superficial; they’re fake. This is because Institutionalization is relentless. The Western Hemisphere has thoroughly endured a Post-Colonial phase, and so, the Anglican establishment in Western nations seeps deeper into the group. This represents the political-Left versus political-Right battles of the recent decade. Yet, despite the grandiose promises, nothing changes, and the ‘Establishment’ remains unabated.

The focus should be removed from Mass Media, and back onto the pursuit for Sciences, Technology, and Exploration.

Otherwise, what “future” does Humanity have, or could even want, except endless political squabbles over bread crumbs… crumbs which Socialists promise to soon monopolize across the world? Is that really what you or those you know want for themselves? I do not believe so. I believe Humanity wants and desires something much more meaningful and purposeful. Thus, politics is not enough for “progress”.

Higher ideals are required. For Culture to ascend, so too must Humanity, into the Heavens.

I’d say the situation is far worse than that. The entertainment industry of the 60’s and 70’s was actually pretty bad, it’s just that what we have today is far worse in comparison. Back then you had Mick Jagger and skinny bearded men in tight jeans singing falsetto promoting homosexuality, drug use, narcissism, Peter Pan syndrome and many other vices. Nowadays, you have people like Lil Nas X aggressively promoting homosexuality, Jennifer Lopez aggresively promoting feminism and Cardi B aggresively promoting female promiscuity. So things weren’t really great 60 years ago and arts haven’t really stagnated – they actually degenerated.

Other than computers, the internet and phones, not much tech innovation has really happened in the last few decades, at least in terms of stuff we regularly use.
Seems like there was more tech innovation in the early 20th century than the early 21st.
Perhaps we plateaued (for now), not only culturally but scientifically.

We assume tech innovation will go on forever, but maybe we’re entering an era of relative stagnation, or alternatively, maybe the places this generation of techies want to take us will be far more detrimental for humanity than beneficial.

As for colonizing mars or the moon, assuming everything they’ve told us about mars, the moon and our journey to it was legit, we haven’t even been back to the moon in several decades.
Colonization seems decades off, and fruitful colonization seems centuries off.
Maybe it won’t even be productive for man to colonize mars, maybe it’ll just be a waste of resources.
Or maybe it’ll take us centuries or even millennia to develop the necessary tech to make colonization fruitful.
We just assume man is going to keep ascending forever, but I don’t make that assumption, I don’t know exactly what our future has in store for us.
At present, I’m thinking more about the possibility of systemwide collapse due to a mass coronal ejection, supervolcano, Frankenshots or WW3.

Yea, perhaps all the low hanging fruit has been picked.

No, it’s because there’s nothing left for the Tech-heads to back engineer.

:-k

Thats a good point.

Amen. But it can not do so disregarding the earth as a wasted trash heap; the Earth must be the center of the ideal.

the Earth must be made into a temple to our own valuation, love, the essence of spirit.

We can only conquer the solar system with spiritual success when we have grounded ourselves properly; the Earth must be purified and adorned with the fruits of pour most potent science and art.

We have been very lazy, very very petty in addressing the very ground we stand on.

We, with all our technology, cant even come close to creating value like some of our distant ancestors.
Part of the reason why Christianity, though required, doesn’t cut it.

Praise be to Poseidon.

Re. the Op:- that’s because… even since the Victorian/Sino/global pre-industrialisation era of opium-dens and sex-parlours etc., societies have still been indulging in the sex drugs and rock’n’roll addictive cycle of obsessive/compulsive behaviour… tho not All get entangled, in the tangled web that that combination weaves. The swinging sixties says it all, doesn’t it! the era that it was cool to be wild, in.

Religion tries to teach Us that sex and drugs are not necessary to be hip/to be cool, but that there’s nothing wrong… with a bit of rock’n’roll.

More solar and wind power,
more desalination facilities,

More of these will be made in the future.

Imagine 10x as much of those.

That is one form of progress moderns are working on.

_
Is that progress, or just ‘more of the same’ Dan~? there is a difference…

Call it what you want.
I call it progress when they build more wind power towers.

Imagine free green everything.

Good point… but free tho?

Didn’t Tesla… and many others, envision such a free-energy/amenities future, but did it actually happen? no! …it happened all right, but only at the expense of the Working Classes, in giving their taxed earnings to the third-world/poor.

Some work hard for their money, honey!

Of course humanity could keep ascending technologically for hundreds or even thousands of years to come, all the way to the stars, but I tend to see history more cyclically, or spirally, maybe an ascending spiral, maybe a descending spiral, maybe spirals within spirals.

I think we’ve been in a progressive epoch since Columbus discovered the Americas.
I mean progressive in a less polarizing sense, a time of social and technological change and development, greater equality of opportunity, not necessarily equality of outcome.
New frontiers in exploration and tech tend to foster liberal democracy.
Once those new frontiers are exhausted, authoritarian dictatorship tends to creep back.
Barring additional new frontiers, wherever they may be, outerspace, underwater or in Antarctica, I think new tech will be used to enslave man rather than liberate him.

The Roman, Greek and Carthaginian republics gave way to the Roman and Macedonian empires.
I could see our republics and constitutional monarchies giving way to dictatorship.
Culturally they could be left, right or radically centrist, but in any case they’ll be scientific dictatorships.
Science will be used to subjugate man more thoroughly than he was before.
Freedom, and even democracy may survive, but they’ll survive underground and on the margins.

After an epoch of authoritarianism and relative social and technological stagnation, new frontiers in exploration may unfurl once again, perhaps weakening established hierarchies as they did, spurring social change, development and greater technological innovation.
I could see man entering a high tech authoritarian epoch, followed either by a dark or dim age, where we lose all or some of our tech.
If we lose only some of our tech, keeping most or much of it, perhaps on the rebound we’ll reach the stars, or some other milestone we’re incapable of even imagining now, but I don’t see endless tech progress for man, he goes through phases, even if ascension is his destiny, it’ll at least be a bumpy ride with lots of twists and turns.

Science can be used to liberate or enslave man, it can lead to progress or destruction, it’s both a blessing and a curse, depending.

Not absolutely free,
but efficiency increases.
Cost of production goes down.

So economy may well become a final determinental trump card
Both the real index of accountability and that of sentimentally associated psychological index of health of both kinds.

If you focus only on the negative, your assessment makes sense. But if you focus on the positive, great works of movies, music, television shows, etc. then my assessment remains more accurate.

I could spend countless hours presenting hundreds of great works, from America, which have overtaken world culture. For example, American movies dominate the rest of the world. There is no foreign equivalent to Hollywood.

Imagine 1300s and 1400s Europe.

It wasn’t long ago at that time, that the Mongolians decimated most of Europe and left it in ruins, scared for their safety and security. Grand castles and fortresses were built in response, to protect Central European kingdoms from mounted archer invasions. Furthermore, there was exponential advance of Nautical technology, boats, warships, exploration vessels, etc. This led to the Portuguese, Spanish, French, and British armadas. Those vessels went onto explore the world’s seas and bring in the centuries of Settlement, first years of Colonization.

Humanity is seeing a little of the same thing now, with Elon Musk and Bezos, beginning a privateering campaign of space exploration.

Europeans had reason to start great campaigns of exploration during those times. Stagnancy leads to boredom. European monarchs valued sea exploration and naval battle domination as Prestige and representation of their country & culture’s power. That may very well happen in this 21st Century and the next.

Most of the monumental, early seafaring explorations, were sponsored by European nobles, aristocrats, and monarchs. Like current day “scientific grants” and research.

I agree, and I have faith that Western Christian Culture will dominate in the coming centuries. Traditional and Conservative values are more important than ever, especially when they are threatened to becoming demographic minorities and political victims. Christians tend to thrive in times of tyranny, oppression, suppression, and assault. After all, this is its original essence, as a fight against Roman Imperialism and Dictat, hence why USA is so strongly premised on Freedom of Speech and (Christian) Religion.

See… this is what I’m talking about.

Why not a “Marvel” movie, or any movie, about Space Poseidon! No longer God of Earth’s seas and oceans… but of the Universe’s seas and oceans as well!

Poseidon needs an… upgrade.
