Thoughts and Observations

If we desire that philosophy become better known, then we must emphasize the importance of art. Imagine if people put time and effort into using modern technology to promote films based upon philosophers. Ultra high definition visuals, graphics, and so on to convey some of the glory of the life well-lived.

Usually, people first become familiar with philosophy via the usual disenchanted academic milieu. It seems too much like homework instead of an epic, adventurous life of discovering hidden secrets.

Would be nice to see modern cinemagraphics channeled towards conveying the majesty of philosophy.

You’d just draw a bunch of idiots into philosophy and the rest of us would spend years trying to teach them basic critical thinking. Bad idea.

I’ve never once thought this.

same

also what does he mean by “the majesty of philosophy”? that kind of language sounds like…you know…not philosophy.

Except philosophy doesn’t teach critical thinking. It requires it.

But in general terms I agree. I think universities should stop teaching it. It only spews out brainless borgs with no actual love for wisdom.

loving something and being something are not the same thing

No, certainly not.

But you can’t get to A without B.

yes you can

You only think that because you are one of the brainless borgs they spewed out.
