There is a part of me, deep down…ah hell, who am I kidding, it’s right on the surface, that sincerely hopes the world just doesn’t go “back to normal,” after this COVID thing. That it is used as an opportunity for substantial change, worldwide, in one way or another (hopefully for the betterment of mankind obviously).
I know the likelihood of seeing drastic transformative change for the better, in my lifetime is probably low from a historical perspective, but it would be a nice bonus to life.
Is this a common sentiment, or are most just excited to get back to exactly the way things were?
I think you are being cast (as are many others) into a false dichotomy.
Crises are used to instigate change because people are still trying to get a grip on what hasn’t changed - while it is still changing. They resist big changes because those require deep thought and concern for the most highly probable change toward the negative rather than the positive - “change for the sake of change” is a call to destroy all that is.
So okay - we all want a degree of change. But change in what direction?
There are many directions, the most are always toward the negative - the less stable - more dangerous. So thought is required.
To literally change back to EXACTLY as it was, almost everyone in the population would think is a very bad thing to do. Everyone was aware of corruption that needed change. Everyone was aware of poor management that needed change. Everyone was aware of truth being hidden and distorted. The only people who want to go back to that are the ones who were depending on it or planning to use it - “the establishment”.
Actually there is no effort to go back to that state that I can see.
What is being pushed as the “new norm” is socialism (anti-constitutionalism) or the “drain the swamp” project. And that is the “divide”.
The swamp wants to go back to being ignored by the public and change into more socialism - power.
Mr Trump supporters want the change of draining the swamp, especially the socialist insurrection.
This crisis interfered with ongoing efforts - both good and bad. And it gives impetus to not continue exactly as it was but to take advantage and make desired changes. The real problem is that there are two preferred changes that are diametrically opposed.
Real change is grassroots, not top-down.
Top-down = fake change = more of the same.
Real change can’t come from big big business, big gov, big pharma and big tech, real change comes from individuals and communities opposing these entities.
Real change challenges, it’s dangerous, it offends, it’s politically incorrect and subversive, not what the higher-ups want, but the reverse.
The Deep State exposed themselves brazenly in their desperate attempt to remove Trump from power.
Now that the corruption is known and public, there’s no going back. Start with Hunter Biden’s laptop and work backward from there. There are multiple wars going on, and a monumental one that was discovered by accident.
