The Myth of "JOBS"

The Myth of “JOBS”

Actually, come to think about it, our present society, system, economic system has nothing at all to do with jobs and work at all ! It is mostly independent of “Jobs” and “Work”, doesn’t even need “Jobs” and “Work” and needs to “create Jobs” and “Jobs” and “Work” in general like a hole in the head.

Many just can’t cram it in their thick heads that our present Technological Economy doesn’t need more jobs, more work, doesn’t create more jobs and work, needs more than anything else, consumerism and consumers, needs options and games, needs ever more free time to waste on options and games and wild consumption because the system produces free production by the boatloads, produces and can potentially produce way more than can ever be consumed by the boatloads. Just think, how can there be so many trillions of dollars floating around in the world banks and all, when so few people do any real work at all, most are just producing fluff (all the Information Workers, producing Symbols which are really ZERO REAL PRODUCTION, they are not cars which is REAL PRODUCTION) and working make believe jobs, go figure.

And the system is tuned and optimized to eliminate jobs, and all of the Innovation and Research and “More education” will only serve to eliminate as many jobs as possible, the system’s real goal is to kill jobs, kill ever more jobs by using robots, automation, optimization, by using “Innovation” to find “new ways to produce” and do things “with less cost” hence, somewhere down the line with less jobs, ever fewer, and in fact this is the real sign of progress and value of all of our Innovation, Technology, Research and Education: how many more jobs can you hack, how much more can you achieve with fewer and fewer people needing to be paid, how much more profit can the few hands governing the production process hog up, by killing ever more jobs.

And yet, all the economists, politicians, thinkers, you name it keep on chanting the fairy tale of “job creation”, "less taxes will create jobs, “more education and innovation will create jobs”, you name, the more false and idiotic the relationship the more they chant it and believe in it. Incredible, our present Technological Economy, and in the future ever more, has absolutely nothing at all to do with jobs, and will have ever less to do with jobs and ever more to do with simple Status Relationships, Power Relationships, just pure power, who owns and controls what, who can hog money on one side or another, independent of any “effort”, or “hard work” or “jobs” all the 18th century thinkers love to keep on blattering.

Just 1 trillion dollars of debts (and the USA, EU and JAPAN have more than 20 trillions of dollars that must be “paid back”) to be paid back must be equivalent to 10 million jobs being paid 10,000 dollars a year for 10 years: exactly what manipulations, what informational or physical transformations will those “new jobs” imply ? Exactly what input → manipulation → output will 10 million people do 8 hours a day, everyday, for ten years that is equivalent to that 10,000 dollars a year salary (which by the way, is a very high salary worldwide) ? Nobody ever answers, nobody knows, everyone believes the “Invisible Hand of the Market” will “create them”, the same hand that is hosing as many possible jobs as it can to increase profit, go figure.

We need Scott Free Handouts, 800 dollars a month to billions of people worldwide and cheap rents, 200 dollars a month to rent a 3 bedroom house all over the world, AMEN. And huge public - private projects, TRILLIONS OF SKYSCRAPERS, TRILLIONS OF ROCKETS TO MARS, WHAT I HAVE BEEN REPEATING FOREVER, BUT NO ONE IS LISTENING, AND NO ONE IS DOING WHAT I DEMAND, DO IT JACKASSES ! JUST DO IT ! GIVE ME MY SCOTT FREE HANDOUT AND TRILLIONS OF SKYSCRAPERS AND ROCKETS TO MARS. JESUS CHRIST, I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT IDIOTS THE GOVERNMENTS OF THIS WORLD ARE!

welcome to fantasy land. The United States of Disney World.

Added technological growth means the disappearance of jobs due to automation not its expansion.

Technological growth or innovation took to its most extreme means the absolute replacement of the working class entirely.

Why pay a laborer to do something when you can have a machine operating for much less

The specialists like to laugh and mock the plight of the non specialist laborers considering they are more greatly desirable in today’s economical environment but what they have not yet realized is that with complete technological and mechanical automation someday in the future they too will be made socially or existentially obsolete as well.

Already, in the three stooges economies, USA, EU and JAPAN, there are millions upon millions of idle people, pensioners, unemployed, people working fake jobs, you name it. No one is producing anything real or concrete anymore, it is all about “services” which means BS, crap, make believe stuff, financial gimmicks, banks, real estate bubbles, education (what on earth else must people be educated in ? what other new information is necessary ? when all of what is important has been the same for decades ? this huge BS of all these new “issues” and “studies” like “women’s studies”, or “psychology”, you name it, fluff and crap, invent any crap and you are “education”) you name it, “health care” (how to rip off as much money as possible on fake sicknesses, on all kinds of complications, pills, exams, checkups, you name, paranoia of all kinds of imaginary sicknesses, huge mega crap, etc.) a whole boatload of mega crap, all the millions working in “offices” as in office politics, all the “communications” between people wasting time talking (through cell phones, iphones, ipads, internet, etc.) about puny power struggles, marketing, how to sell imaginary “skills” and “value added” and such crap, kill them all, hate them with all your guts.

Just imagine how much real wealth you could get if you made all of those millions of idle people work in hobby factories just for fun, maybe just one or two hours a day instead of watching TV all day long, building 1966 oldsmobile 98s, skyscrapers, rockets to mars, you name it !

Now how can an economic system that doesn’t produce anything anymore, that has almost everyone idle and wasting time just fighting each other for fun (like lawyers) have so many trillions of dollars floating around in banks ? Because the system generates wealth automatically, independent of any work, work has nothing at all to do with the Technological Economy, work is a ghost, a make believe fairy tale that justifies the rich hogging up ever more profit because people “don’t work hard enough” (when in all truth there is nothing left to do, even if you wanted to).

No one is producing real things anymore, no one is producing concrete things, manufacturing where work really is work, achievment can be measured, you are really creating something like when you produce skyscrapers, cars, high speed trains, rockets to mars, etc. Everyone wants to waste time on imaginary “innovation” and “research” when all innovation and research that really counts is done and finished, there is very little real new discoveries that can be made (you can’t discover electricity all over again or the Computer or Windows or the Internet, etc.), now it is all about applying the technology as in what do you want to do with the know how you got ? build supercomputers to exchange money and poker games or computers to go to mars and such ?

The only new discovery left is sticking wild stuff in brains and designing new brains to enter new worlds.

All services serve to just make believe that there is “work to do” when nothing is left to do, like health care, fixing broken people, that is a loss, that should be a huge loss, instead that generates trillions of dollars of “economic activity”, go figure, what an idiotic economic system: but all the economists and politicians keep on pretending that there is a linearity between “work” and “wealth”, nothing further from the truth, this system doesn’t produce anything anymore, has millions upon millions already idle just sponging off the free money the Technological Economy generates automatically and asking for “jobs”, imaginary jobs that will never come back unless you force them with huge public private projects, trillions of skyscrapers and rockets.

AN APE

That’s pretty good, I’m guessing the inspiration was that there are actual riot helmets that look like that.

I don’t think you really understand what you’re talking about though about there being “no jobs” or that people ar actively working to eliminate jobs.

Your frustration also seems to be influencing you talk of this subject.

Though it is true that America has forsaken the manufacturing an industrial pontential that was essential for it to reach it’s superpower status.

This is certainly something that should be remidied.

Actually I am the only one in the entire world that really knows what he is talkng about: all the decodings, explanations, theories of the economies are backed up by a completely static and well defined ideology that is decades old (an ideology that the once extreme “revolutionary left” called the “bourgeoisie ideology”: An entire interpretation of all things social and economical according to a model that has been imposed by liberalism, capitalism, “hard work”, linearity between “work and wealth”, “competition”, etc.) that always proposes the same old solutions and the same old interpretations to all things economical, like a total monolithic brainwashing.

This idea that for example “work creates wealth”, “people must deserve it”, “competition creates new jobs and wealth”, “more innovation will create more jobs”, “more education is needed”, and so on and so forth according to a complete gospel repeated by every living soul on earth for decades results in no one ever really questioning all of these assumptions, all of these “laws of physics”, all of these “apparent truths”. And this non questioning makes all of the government proposals (all right wing, pro rich proposals) all of the proposals all the capitalist superstars propose like Steve Jobs (ironic name if ever), Bill Gates, etc. with their fairy tale myth that “you can do it too, you can invent the next new ipad and make billions too, you can innovate, research and discover electricity all over again, etc.” are the only possible proposals imaginable. Cut salaries, fire workers, more “small businesses”, etc. etc.

But all of this ideology serves to hide what this economic system really is and what it is really doing, what the real trends are, behind all of the BS, and the real trends are simply: WORK IS NO LONGER NEEDED. PERIOD. WORK AND LABOR IS USELESS, THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE AVAILABLE FOR LABOR AND WORK COMPARED TO WHAT THE ECONOMIC SYSTEM CAN POSSIBLY USE. PERIOD. THE SYSTEM HAS HUGE ECONOMIES OF SCALE, HAS OPTIMIZED PRODUCTION IN ALL ENDEAVORS, AND CAN FREELY GIVE OUT SCOTT FREE HANDOUTS TO ALL WITHOUT COMPROMISING ANYTHING AT ALL OF THE WORKINGS OF THE SYSTEM, AND INDEED, BY GIVING SCOTT FREE HANDOUTS, IT COULD INCREASE IT’S PRODUCTIVE OUTPUT BY ORDERS OF MAGNITUDES AND BECOME EVEN RICHER AND HAVE EVEN MORE EXCESS CAPACITY. WE NOW LIVE IN AN INFINITE RESOURCE SYSTEM AND SOCIETY. PERIOD.

But by saying this, you completely demolish all of the ideological construction both the right wing and left wing have been brainwashed with for decades: they just can’t accept the reality that we are way too rich to know what to do with it, aside from creating huge financial turmoil and giving trillions of scott free handouts in terms of profits to the already super rich.

And the left and OWSers and such only criticize the status quo according to an even falser and worse ideology: the Resource Scarcity Myths chanting that there is “no more oil and energy” (never has there been a greater lie), that there are “too many people” (never has there been a greater lie), etc. That “consumerism” is bad, we must protect “nature”, and an entire host of other idiotic truths that serve to maintain the status quo, just as much as those idiots that say the problems of unemployment is due to “people don’t work hard enough”.

All false, all lies, Oil is simply carbon chemistry, and science already and will have ever more substitutes for it, resources are infinite, just by building skycrapers you can increase the wealth of societies and have even more resources by the boatloads, etc. By space exploration and travel ever more resources can be found, nature is not a religion, it is a tool for us to use, we have huge excess capacity in terms of people, know how, technology, idle people, you name it to achieve anything at all.

But the starting point would be to give out: SCOTT FREE HANDOUTS TO ALL, 800 DOLLARS A MONTH AND CHEAP RENTS 200 DOLLARS A MONTH TO ALL JUST TO BEGIN. AND THEN HUGE PUBLIC - PRIVATE PROJECTS LIKE TRILLIONS OF SKYSCRAPERS AND TRILLIONS OF ROCKETS TO MARS, TRILLIONS OF 1966 OLDSMOBILE NINETY EIGHTS, TRILLIONS OF LINCOLN CONTINENTIALS, YOU NAME IT, ETC.

But we keep on having all of the old solutions repeated over and over again that will not make our society go an inch forward anymore, the greens and resource scarcity myths telling us all to go back to the stone ages, the capitalists and economists telling us to work harder and get more educated for imaginary jobs that will never come to be.

TOBOR APE MAN

I saw the North Koreans crying on TV once again, they have been crying for over a week now. That is so damn cool! They are desperate because their great leader Kim Sung Il or whatever the hell he called himself died, they are desperate, crying like cry babies, really cool, how I love those extreme communist dictatorships (so spectacular too!, a really cool show!) where the “individual” is no longer allowed to exist, all exist as one monolithic block of intentionality, as a tool for the one and all powerful dictator.

I want that! like an hysterical cry baby, I WANT THAT! like a spoiled brat, I WANT THAT! I want billions of people at my command, like I push a button and they build skyscrapers and they execute, build trillions of 1966 oldsmobile ninety eights and they execute, so cool, Only I decide, I love to hate and inflict pain, but the hate and pain is only such if the billions of tools (slaves) oppose their puny will power (and why does a chunk of matter want to inflict pain on another chunk of matter, the indirection, the imagination, the denotation ?): but kill all other will powers, no different “life styles” here, no queers or fagots or lesbos or alternative “individuals” here, only tools, gears for my machine, so cool!

The Observer is not only the Universe 100 %, the Observer is 100 % Subjectivity, no absolutes here, only a pure monolithic slab of subjectivity expressing itself (as if “itself” had any possible value and wasn’t just a puny useless insignificant turd): Only subjectivity exists, not even the Observer or the Universe, pure subjectivity which means pure nothing, pure total insignificance, pure puny action reaction according to what that atoms decide, and its decision is totally insignificant. So modified brains are the Observer, which is the Universe with completely new laws of physics, but also 100 % Subjectivity, pure quirk action reaction, pure impulse as a response against another input, pure quirky, flukey will power expressing itself and using trillions of people as a monolithic slab of intentionality to use at my command…

The only reason why machines will never take over all labor and work are because the upper classes will never allow it since that would strip away their long generations of privilege which they have no intentions of ever relinquishing.

Only until after the upper classes have eliminated the working classes and all those they believe to beneath themselves to which they describe as inferiors will they allow a world where machines take over all labor completely but such is a world that they seek to inherit by themselves only to which they will share with nobody.

All tyranny, oppression, totalitarianism, government, and long historical generations of social inequality leads to just that.

What were witnessing is the elimination of the working classes now that a technological state has been created whereby the only way for the upper classes can get rid of them are by stripping their entire livelihood to exist.

The next couple of decades will mark the death of the proletarian if the upper classes have their way.

After the proletarians are destroyed the middle class will be next for they are not safe from complete automation of society either. Their time will almost be up as well given the perception of the upper classes.

In order to change things the unsustainable and blinded service economy would have to be reversed.

If it is not reversed it’s unsustainability will become it’s own undoing.

i agree with this statement

i think more technology doesn’t mean the elimination of jobs (strictly)… on a large scale, it means that we have a lot of workers with technology, efficiency in mind

rather than peoples jobs being eliminated, we create a culture of technically educated citizens, who play a meaningful role in creating some new technology or providing it as a service

manufacturing/industry will always be needed though… but no one wants to ‘pay’ anyone to do it, because its often thought of as unskilled labor, so no one wants to do it

how do we reconcile these differences?

Typical vague, ambiguous non sensical reply, typical words that seem to be saying something but are saying nothing, etc. Yeah, there will be jobs, but they will be services “using high tech” (how idiotic, high tech exists exclusively to eliminate jobs and manipulations, to do more with less, to save “cash”, to eliminate “waste” (and paying people is always a huge waste, look at all of the EU governments hacking jobs and pensions and all they can because it is all considered “waste” (but waste for who ? for what ? totally idiotic economic theory!)).

No, jobs are no longer there no matter what: maybe a lot of jobs are imaginary, nominal, like doing the same things over and over again just because, because it “looks like work”, but maybe that is “real waste”, the same office meetings, reports, manipulations, documents, the same software programs written over and over again everyday for decades, pretending that that is “work”, just repeat, with slight differences what you did a week ago, a year ago, ten years ago, millions of jobs are kind of like this.

But alas, that is OK, that is fine, man defines anything anyway he wants, he sings and plays his own song, he defines all meanings arbitrarily and if IPHONE APPS are “productive new tools”, so be it, if “services” are “advanced” so be it, if McJobs are the future of an “advanced economy”, so be it, who gives two ccks and a dck.

The idea is that there is less and less accumulation of result, accumulation of effort, serialization of labor (as in MANUFACTURING), collective effort for the “common good”, and more and more all disjoint little activities that don’t (and must not, else you would have way more excess capacity produced that would reveal how hugely rich our present day Technological Economy really is, the mask would fall, the truth revealed, billions of people would finally demand their scott free handouts as a right, bar none) add up, that don’t create a monolithic result like huge public private projects that add up, skyscrapers, rockets, trillions of brand new Lincoln Continentals, etc. That is why the emphasis is all on “small businesses” and “startups” and not on Space Travel, High Speed Trains, etc.

From:

“4) The serialization of labor, the accumulation of labor processes is one of the things the capitalists are most afraid of: this would create a huge amount of wealth and it would become very difficult to hide how much wealth the system can produce, it would be hard for them to hog it all up for themselves, they would have to distribute it because there would be so much product that it would be impossible to not distribute it. Some examples, millions of homes built in Spain, now standing empty (but the prices don’t go down anyways) or Florida, same story. So many Chinese toys are sequestered by governments in Europe, but they just pop out all over again, as in those factories in China can produce a virtually infinite stream of toys, it doesn’t make a dent to them if they keep on losing huge batches of illegal toys, etc. And there are many other examples. So one important thing the system must impose is the atomization, parallelization of labor processes, each process in contrast to each other, each one destroying the work of the other so as to avoid the possibility that labor may add up, like in Rockets to Mars, Skyscrapers, or High Speed Trains.”

And don’t personalize the problems, the OWSers talking about 1 % having all against the 99 % and all: it is structural and theoretical, it is only a clash of ideologies, nothing more, the theory is everything in this “struggle”, either you ask for scott free handouts and tell the powers that be that we now live in a Technological Economy that is way richer than what they all want us to think, or just go home and watch TV.

This is all a real pure ideological and philosophical battle, don’t get confused…

kunstler.com/blog/2012/01/2012-f … imper.html

Idealism ?

Money is simply FIGHT: Money is equivalent to fight, to struggle, to A against B, nothing more. Money is just the distribution of pain because man is conflictual, has to fight to define itself, needs to fight to exist and win, needs the conflict, the win or lose game. Hence there is no possible “common good” only pseudo-justifications (theories, ideology, morality, politics) for the winner to crush the loser. All men are equally trash, no one is better or deserves more no matter what, it is all just a game of changing the rules and making some win and some lose according to who is more capable to abide to the new rules, etc.

Since money is simply a proxy for fight, for distribution of pain (mostly pain, also pleasure, but pleasure is not nearly as distributed as pain since inflicting pain is more fun and satisfying, gives the “winners” a bigger “high”, etc.) then all the talk, debates, theories are totally in vain: no matter what, man will always be back at square one, fighting each other over all kinds of crap, organizing the “economy” according to ever changing rules and making some win and some lose, etc.

But this flies right in the face of the Technological Economy that distributes pleasure, free wealth automatically, structurally, contradicting all of our old ideologies and philosophies based on “You Have to Deserve It”, “Hard Work”, “Resources are Scarce” , etc. Since people just can’t accept the possibility to organize society distributing as much pleasure as possible through the Technological Economy and love to inflict pain, see pain inflicted, they justify other people’s pain through the tool of Money, Fake Hard Work (imposed only ideologically, not for necessity), chanting how everything is running out, everything is finishing like food and energy, “There is Not Enough, but especially There is Not Enough For Everybody (niggers and mexicans, etc.)” etc. there are “too many people”, etc (of course there are especially when everyone must fight everyone else through the proxy tool of money, through that so beloved inequality between people that everyone says to deny but deep inside everyone loves, loves to think that they are better and deserve more, just because, because man is a simple action - reaction, pure subjectivity, nothing else).

The Observer is Pure Subjectivity, nothing more, so stick engines in Man Brains and change its design, build thousands of trillions upon thousands of trillions of skyscrapers and rockets to mars and brand new Lincoln Continentals, and 1966 Oldsmobile Ninety Eights, etc.

Huge Public Private projects for the common good, to distribute wealth, not use money as a proxy and tool for fighting. And then where is all the “Productive Investment” going anyways ? Where are all the “investments” going ? Shouldn’t they be building High Speed Trains, Rockets to Mars, Skyscrapers, Infrastructure, Automatic Factories etc. ? Oh no, it is just numbers scribbled on paper making believe that it is real money and investment…(but the paper is just a proxy for power status, inequality, money used as a weapon, as a tool, a proxy for FIGHT).

From:

kunstler.com/blog/2012/01/2012-f … imper.html

And bear in mind, most of the fights and who and how you win and lose, most of the wins and loses, most of the battles, most of the money as a fight is purely mental, psychological, abstract, social based, status based, very rarely does it hit on to real physical pain/pleasure, it is mostly spiritual, theoretical, therefore NOT REAL; FAKE; A MAKE BELIEVE. But since Man is the infinitely progammable machine, he “believes in it”, he buys it and suffers if the social environment doesn’t assign him as a “winner” through abstract “medals” (as in more cash, a bigger house, a Lincoln Continental, a BOSS title, a Commander, many Hot Young Chicks Available, you name it).

Hence, break away from this past, this stone age Ape Man Brain, design new circuits, mix new machines in Brains, make it wild and crazy, make Brains as large as Skyscrapers, combine Matter and Mass Energy to produce new Man Brains, Hence new Observers, Hence totally New Universes with totally new Laws of Physics, Hence totally new forms of Pure Extreme Subjectivity expressed.

Busty, build those thousands of trillions of brand new Lincoln Continentals and 1966 Oldsmobile Ninety Eights, We need thousands of trillions of new people to build all this stuff we need, kill nature, beat the living daylights out of that new religion called Nature, and give me my Scott Free Handouts, 800 dollars a month Free salary and Cheapo rent of 200 dollars a month for 3 bedroom house, you can do it, just do it Man.

First Gear, it’s all right, Second gear Hold on tight, third gear you’re out of sight…

THE APE

I think there’s a certain amount of real wealth created [mining, farming, construction [to a degree] and supporting industries] and a massive amount of monopoly money fabricated.

I don’t really know why culturally we look down on the unemployed and up to those who work 7 days a week, the latter are mostly just using up resources.

I also don’t know why we have any problems commercially if but for a capitalist model which lacks dexterity. Perhaps its all just used because otherwise people would have nothing to do ~ then they get restless. Give people purpose make them think its all gone bad, control them.

Fear, the new opiate.
