Cool I finally discovered the Smithing potion, which increases my smith skill by 60 percent, armour is now nearly 1200 and my axe does around 160 atm, and sucks out your soul mwahahahaha. I’m looking to get some more grand souls atm, so although my Daedric weapon of the Vampire sucks out 15 health and gives it to you and is thus slightly more damaging, I’m using the axe.
I’m looking to die in this suit so my next 3 perks will be enchantment +20%, so that I can enchant these items. Probably +x one handed skill on boots and gloves, + health on armour. If I do chose to remove the helmet for a plain Daedric one I will probably put some sort of resistance to shock, fire or some such on it. Who knows maybe I’ll get the double perk thing, one step away, Enchantment 74…
Earlier I got a really nice Daedric mask from a place where I went to find a shout word. I’m 52nd atm, I reckon I might stop playing around 60 or so. Oh and now The Imperials have been kicked out of Skyrims holds.
One thing I really like about the game is the dungeon areas which are all very different, a lot of work went into keeping them fresh, and the “Dwarven” dungeons are quite fun, with the robots and the steam driven death traps (incidentally the Dwarves are actually Elves apparently, stunty one’s I presume: they enslaved the Snow Elves, which eventually rebelled and became the Falmer, a blind and evil race, that you kind of feel sorry for given their history of persecution). I would of preferred more monsters in the game but meh, it’s a minor gripe. The bestiary is hardly understocked.
Ogmund’s house, how do I rob the place, the map shows extra areas but there’s no access to them… Hmmm… Curious… I figure he owes me his chalice for saving him from a Falmer dungeon; I can always justify my actions no matter how illegal or immoral.
Edit: I love the fact that you can die in even the most benign situations on master, especially if your mixing up your skill sets; Light armour for me can often be a death sentence so I need a different approach as I basically have no perks. And even if you aren’t mixing the skill sets up then you need so much more than just the ability to kill quickly. For example I hit a final area today, now usually one Druagar Lord can be a challenge, I had 3 and one of them scourges that cast magic, magic I use is basically wasted atm even at high level, it will kill, but it’s kinda disappointingly meh, not sure why my magic is gash but I guess it’s because I don’t specialise in it, even though I have all the perks, no idea, but then you pays your money you takes your chance. Anyway very hard to kill all four, you had to keep moving so that they wouldn’t hit you, and when two struck make sure you had your shield up, 3 and you were dead almost instantly. I had to use far more healing/stamina/magicka potions than I was comfortable with and far more restoration spells, which are at least not crap at expert. But I did it first time, hook or by crook it was a nightmare, I’m about 70/30% on hard situations usually, so I have at least some skill I like to think.
I kinda like the way the game just makes it so hard so quickly at master level. Just when you think you’ve got it all down, they throw a curve ball, the algorithms for levelling and skilling up are superb. Unless of course you’re an exploit merchant who basically only gets a thrill if everything is made too easy, and you don’t even wait until you get bored to use cheats, you use them from the start because nothing says I am finding it too hard diddums like wasting your time being beatable, because you can’t play the game very well and you are a girl.
This game is my game of the year. Even better than the MMORPG LotR expansion and Deus Ex. I seldom find a game that’s once in a decade but I think this is it. Don’t buy it though, sincerely, if you have a life you might lose it!
