The thread is about the *individuation" process which education has tried to bypass for about centuries, to no avail, since today society is similar to freight train on a collusion course. Individuation is above all recognizing the sovereignty of each human being.
Several years ago, I wrote an analysis about global food waste concluding that 50% of the food worldwide was wasted (link at the bottom of this posting). The waste in the so-called rich west is staggering to say the lest, yet that are western organizations that report on overpopulation and scarcity. The article below raises the question about the “food stamps” program and food inflation, which are now appearing completely deceptive. You can rest assured that no politician will address that. This example clearly shows why “saving the world” can only be done at an individual level, by embracing a new perception because obviously the collective matrix is a sick patient on life support.

Using 2011 retail prices, the avoidable food waste in the United States (for the year 2009) has a total retail value of 197.7 billion USD. Consumer waste alone amounts to 124.1 billion USD, or nearly 63 percent of the total retail value of wasted food (Venkat 2011). Danielle Nierenberg co-project director of the Worldwatch Institute contends that 31 million tons end in landfills or incinerators each year. That’s roughly equivalent to the weight of 74 Golden Gate bridges!

It is so discombobulating that many are left speechless, understandable. Though something will have to be done, rather soon than later. World hunger is a made up by worthless and fraudulent policies that sustain high prices for the benefits of the very few. Throwing out food that doesn’t look perfect is causing inflation. Think of TV commercials training people to only be attracted by the look of food. Think of all those so-called charities claiming to feed the poor. What to think of the advertising business under such a circumstance? The ramifications are enormous. To fix the issue, we obviously need a major political reform, but this will imply shocks to the system leading to a new start from scratch. There is no way around. If people ever stopped to waste food drastically overnight, it would cause a global price food collapse and which means the end of the world economy.
Western world has enormous waste concerning food and many nations around the world populations can barely afford to feed themselves. Of course those same impoverished nations don’t ask themselves who really is manipulating everything causing their own poverty.
I look at this the other way: embracing the end of the insanity should cause joyfulness. as long as people think that there is a way to muddle through and/or fix the issue one step at the time, the latter becomes more threatening by the day as we can see. The “spend or die” darwinian system will end in tears unless we embrace its upside. The individuation process implies the realization that each of us is responsible for what is. Painful to accept but the reward is so much liberating!!
either or… price food collapse or/and hyperinflation will eventually make foods not affordable at all. Growing ones’ own food may be the only way to deal with upcoming situation.

The issue is monstrous but can be resolved quite simply. The “I dont care” is an educational matter above all. If students could read this article below in 6 grade, the world would be a much better place. The system also drives them being this way. “Spend or die” distracts from the real meaning of life and of course benefits corporations and their minions.
the system is inimical to the human species (all races/cultures), we destroy trying to do good because the majority ignore the interconnectedness of everything. Personal responsibility has always been the name of the game. As long as one relies on politicians or organization to do the thinking for us, the pyramid below can only turn out being predatory. That is no conspiracy, it is a Natural Law. So turning Nature into an ally requires every human to know this. The duty of people who know more is to share the knowledge instead of asking us to trust them (blindly).
I often suggest “the century of the self” a internet blockbuster (on youtube) exposing the use of psychoanalysis to implement hyperconsumerism. Must watch, really. As long as people are unaware of their position at the bottom of the food chain, they will not listen to anything else.
I don’t subscribe to the knowledge is power model as people at the top are equally, if not more, ignorant as people at the bottom of the pyramid (other than that you pretty much nailed it).
You think it’s right for me to grow a plot of lettuce, and then try and sell you some for 1 dollar, then the govt comes along and tells me I have to give half away to someone who wants it free, then I have to charge you 2 dollars instead?
Everything is a double edged sword because of dualism which we cannot rid of. Knowledge is too power… if people knew that people who claim being in the know (and want to rule us therefore cannot be trusted, the trend of ignorance growing exponentially too), the pyramid would be reversed, with its tip at the bottom and representing ignorance instead of knowledge. Meaning that problems would remain manageable instead of threatening us all.
