The 1980’s of the United States was a fascinating period for its government, more specifically in terms of corruption and the all out assault on the American people. This is the era where deregulation of all sorts of financial services came in play which later gave control of large corporate banks over the United States government. This is the era where corporate lobbying in bribing senators and congressman gave sway.
It was the era that celebrated mass consumption and a mass exodus of America’s manufacturing capabilities. It was a era where the first of many jobs began leaving the country that once was the livelihood and fabric of every working class family. It was a era that a lot of corporate executives started getting rich by transferring their base of operations overseas.
It was a era where the United States military started to increase its presence in the middle east to secure oil petroleum resources.
It was a era where the United States started to profit heavily on its arms trade worldwide by selling weapons to other countries who would then declare war on each other utilizing those same weapons.
Yes, if I had to describe the 1980’s I would describe it as the beginning of the United States corruption and social decadence that would later affirm in our present its total collapse.
Yeah, trickle down economics is the same thing that they just tried to do again with the Bush tax cuts. Remember? The rich were supposed to use the tax cuts to create jobs. Didn’t happen. They broke the nation. Now they’re trying to shut down the government that wants to let us go and see a doctor if we get sick. Insanity. I think Huey from the Boondocks sums it all up nicely. Ronald Reagan was the devil.
I don’t agree with everything you said there Smears, but I will agree with you that a lot of the policies that started in the Reagan administration got us here.
If we want to get complicated a lot of the initial things that lead up to Reagan started with Johnson and Nixon.

Clinton was the final nail in our coffin with NAFTA.
