To further create some distance, we gonna explore soup kitchen only through it’s effect on those who fall under it’s effect cause you see, for the longest of times it bothered me to no end that whenever this magic word comes up, i see people literally pry their own heads open with bare hands, tear their brains out, and procced to throw it out the nearest window.
Now its not like soup kitchen is the only word used to stir up completely lobotomized levels of emotional “discourse”. We had blm, racism, feminism, floyd, metoo, trans children dying due to the lack of affirmation and so so much more.
But out of them all, soup kitchen seems to have the most prevalent and measurable effect.
An effect so far disconnected from anything logical or rational, that it measurably and visibly creates a virtual lobotomy.

Whether its epstein island or going back to something categorical and scientific like the rind et al controversy, you will constantly find the breakdown of all and any logical and rational approach and whats worse: the lack of specificity.

I think I understand your logic. You want to keep the word ambiguous, like soup kitchen, to allow flexibility. It can indeed be different, according to the time and place you are referring to (I have in mind a different word from the past).
In my opinion, the soup kitchen being a triggering mechanism, causing frenzy to people, has to do with how mass psychology is formed.
It starts by the fact that this word has negative connotations. It is related to a behavior that is considered immoral by the public. Then, you have the influencers of public opinion (in modern times: tv news and social media) that play a lot with this word, emphasizing the harm that causes to the society. Also, everyone who tries to describe the soup kitchen in less negative terms is presented as “weird” or “defender” of the word. Keep repeating this over and over again, and eventually the public gets convinced. At this stage, even mentioning kitchen soup is sufficient to provoke negative reaction.
The latest stage is the “lynching mentality”. “The mere accusation that you are involved in kitchen soup makes the public demand severe punishment. No proofs are required, the accusation is sufficient.
Postscript: For those who are fast in judging: I kept the discussion generic. I do not give specific meaning on the kitchen soup. Keep the discussion on philosophical level, do not start accusing people.

By all means what you wrote is correct because there are many other similar words as i too have stated and they do form in the way you described it, but on a personal note: I am still baffled by the way a couple of these very specific words work.
I mean… take any very negative words like for instance murder.
When it comes to murder, people would be still asking who, why, when, for what reason. Most have their reasoning capacity unaffected because they ask for context.
Not when it comes to the soup kitchen.
To this very extent we can see in this very topic.

How we know pedophilia wouldn’t work out is because we can imagine what a society where pedophilia was legal would look like. We’re thinking yeah no, that would be just inconceivably weird. We know physically and logically such a society would be possible - unless it could be shown that the practice somehow wiped them all out as a species eventually - but culturally, we can’t fathom it. Not as an open social phenomenon and not just a minority’s paraphilia. It’s because we have been in complex societies that have outlawed it for too long. It is embedded in our culture to frown on it.
