And, it is very obvious and clear that humans differ, but do human beings differ because they were born ‘that way’?
For example, if ‘you’ are cruel, are you going to just tell those that you are being cruel to that ‘we’ differ, and life would be boring if ‘i’ was not cruel ‘to you’?
Will you please explain how heredity plays a part and how a human being can be born with ‘a character’, exactly?
And, why are human beings locked up in cages for punishment, for example, if they were born with ‘that character’? Does this mean that the people who believe children need discipline through punishment, for example, or people who want to punish other adults, that ‘this’ is just part of ‘their character’ that they were born with also?
I am not excusing anything, I am explaining the reason behind it.
I never said that. I just made a comment on why people being different is not generally bad. It is not an excuse for abuse.
This is what neuroscientists and people working in genetics have discovered. Heredity can influence certain aspects of our character, but in conjunction with our environment.
Being born with tendency for impulsiveness or some other similar characteristic does not mean you cannot restrain yourself. You have to learn to control it and for that you can ask help from others.
Yes you are not excusing abuse because absolute NO one can excuse nor justify abuse.
I asked you if you are ‘trying to’ excuse or justify abuse. So, is your answer ‘No’ here?
Now, saying, “humans differ” and “if humans were all the same, then life would be boring” is NOT providing a reason at all for WHY those people who abuse when given the privilege of power at all.
Obviously ALL humans and human beings differ. But this is NOT a reason WHY some abuse when they have obtained what is called ‘power’.
Claiming life would be boring if ‘we’ were all the same besides also NOT being a reason WHY some people abuse when provide with ‘power’, it also sounds like something people would say when ‘trying to’ justify their Wrong doings.
The explanation for the fundamental reason WHY people abuse the power that they were given is NOT in “humans differ” NOR in the very old and very worn out, “Life would be boring if we all did not abuse others”, claim.
you supposedly never said ‘what’, exactly?
What you did say can be seen in ‘the words’ that are under your username here. Which I just repeated here.
But you never said ‘this’. What you actually said can be said in ‘the words’ above under your username.
If, however, you meant that people being different is not generally bad, then are you meaning that people abusing others is not generally bad as well?
It is not a reason either.
Again, abuse cannot be excused, nor justified, but there is a fundamental reason WHY adult human beings abuse others.
Really?
And what was ‘it’, exactly, that they discovered?
If you want to say, “That ALL human beings are born with ‘a character’,” then what is ‘this discovery’ based upon, exactly?
This claim has been made for centuries now.
Also, now you are saying heredity can influence ‘certain aspects’ of ‘our character’, which is obviously very different from being born ‘with a character’.
Now, in what way, exactly, can heredity influence ‘certain aspects of our character’? And, ‘what certain aspects’, exactly?
Great. So, abuse, whether one is in or out of power, can be restrained, correct?
Also, EVERY human being is born with a tendency for impulsiveness. Have you ever known of a child who does absolutely everything without any impulsiveness at all? And, what are these other similar characteristics that you speak of here, exactly?
So, if adults can ask for help from others for their Wrong and abusive misbehaviour, why then do not all adults seek out and ask for help?
What do you mean by ‘still no’, exactly? you, obviously, never said ‘no’, previously.
But ‘you’ did not say those words. As ‘you’ can see ‘those words’ are under ‘my username’ and NOT ‘your username’.
I know. Which is WHY I asked you, specifically,
To which you replied to.
If you are saying that people are NOT born ‘with a character’, then great.
But, when people say or write, for example, “How your character is developed depends on heredity”, then some people imply and infer this to mean, ‘born what a character’, but if this is NOT what you meant nor implied, then great.
What you meant, exactly, was what I was looking for there.
I blame myself for keep responding to anew. I try to answer one potentially good question and I usually end up in word games and almost forgetting what was the original point of discussion. So I would say 8.
Anew seems not to understand the things he says to us with his vague ‘you people’ or his not being participating here in this forum to justify his claims to people at the time this is being written or his ‘people at the time being written’ itself as parts of generalized negative assessments of people alive now. I know it is hard for him to remember the negative things he does when they are pointed out to him. I know he can’t see that the way he refers to the people alive at the time this is being written has negative assessments in it. Or he sees it but can’t admit it. Could be either. But we, the readers, we notice his generalizations which he records here, according to himself, for future generations so they can see how messed up people were at the time this is being written. I have learned it is also hard for him to get another perspective on others or on himself. But he claims to value honesty positively, and sometimes it is just a good thing to do to not let something stand, even if responding will not change the person’s mind.
This is correct: he is clueless in a very, very important way.
This reminds me of my son when he was a child who kept asking “why?” until we agreed that the world is so full of questions, that we could spend eternity asking why and still not get a final answer.
