You should start the thread you wrote.

Of all places, why not an anonymous philosophy site?

It’s almost like you gave the reason it’s bad, and then said it isn’t the reason.

That’s a strange way to argue.

Never start something if you don’t want people to look back at your edits.

…offing yourself is like tyrannically ending your life as the elite who doesn’t care about what the people think. Just saying.

What is it with you?

As long as you’re still asking that question, I have you exactly where I want you.

What a busybody. It was her CHOICE to change it. None of YOUR business.

What a busy body It was my choice to give them a heads up that edits are viewable.

Butt out, anew1.

Here is another example of just how ‘self-centred’ some people really are.

They actually think that others should not commit suicide because ‘the ones’ that do commit suicide are ‘inconsiderate’ and ‘do not care about’ ‘the others left living’.

Obviously, if someone is in such a ‘dark place’ that they want to or do commit suicide, the very last thing they are going to think about or consider ‘other’s thoughts or feelings’.

If one is feeling so depressed and hopeless and the only thing they can think about is escaping the ‘terrible’, to them, ‘place’, then they obviously do not even care about or able to consider their own thoughts, let alone some other persons.

  1. No one has any ‘right’ at all to tell another that they must live nor for how long they must live.
  2. If one lacks empathy that much that they cannot consider that the one who is at the ‘end of their tether’, as some might call it, and wants to commit suicide, is someone who is considered or elite because they do not care about what other people think, is obviously one of many who are so lacking of empathy and who are so judgemental that this is another reason WHY so many human beings wanted to commit suicide, back in the ‘olden days’ when this was being written.

If anyone wants to commit suicide, then I suggest instead of being so judgemental and lacking of empathy, you instead become curious and interested in ‘that human being’, and find out the real reason WHY they wanted to commit suicide. For, obviously, if one had any Real concern in NOT wanting human beings to commit suicide they would find out WHY the ones who want to do it, want to do, then once this is well-understood, and KNOWN, the prevention of anymore can Truly begin.

Anyway, if anyone is Truly interested in having a discussion and finding out the fundamental reason WHY you human beings want to ‘take your own lives’, as it is sometimes called, then let ‘us’ have a discussion.

And, as long as you are still holding back on answering and clarifying, ‘you’ are not being Open and Honest, and therefore ‘your’ are “running away” and ‘trying to’ ‘hide’.

Which, as some would say, is exactly where they want ‘you’, here.

you could have then, instead, just said and written - ‘Edits are available’ - only.

Did ‘you’ not like “your” True ‘self’ being shown and exposed?

‘you’ believing that ‘you’ can tell ‘another’ to so-call “butt out”, in a public forum, is like ‘you’ believing ‘you’ have some sort of ‘right’ to tell ‘another human being’ that they ‘must’ keep living.

In both scenarios, ‘you’ have absolutely NO desire, at all, to ‘listen’ to anything that ‘the other’ has or wants to say and share.

‘you’ believe that ‘you’ one of ‘the elite’, who does not have to listen to ‘others’ and can tell ‘them’ what they must or have to do.

Is it? She said it’s based on an assumption. She’s inviting a conservation where the other people can challenge or argue for that assumption. I don’t think it’s strange.

What’s strange is it isn’t an assumption, it’s syllogism, and they gave no counterargument. (Perhaps an embarrassing insight after submitting the post, hence the edit…or…goofy from the get-go, edit for comedic effect…especially the part about tyranny… from the forcefulness of the syllogism.)

What do you think the syllogism was? She didn’t lay out a syllogism, but if she had, then still… a syllogism is a conclusion that follows from premises. The premise is itself often an assumption. Syllogistic logic doesn’t mean “logic without assumptions”, in fact quite the opposite.

You/we know immediately (a priori whyness, with or without conceptual recognition) your/our life/lives is/are intrinsically valuable, so be of such character that you/we act to recognize your/our integrity conceptually, practically, and in how we order (y)our values.

Or in their words, ICYMT:

I only read plain English. All the / and () interspersed between your words makes it effectively unreadable to me

I always loved this argument.
“Its selfish to end your own life” - Said the dude who just claimed ownership of someone else’s life. “Coz fck your suffering, my feelings of losing you matter more.”
