Addressing the growing fascist movement in the United States

Under the right conditions everything works. Thats the nonsense part of the entire thing.
Under the right conditions dictatorships work. Kingdoms work. Theocracies work. Capitalism works. Shamanism works. Everything works under the right conditions.

Its neither here nor there.
If we had the right conditions then we’d not be having this conversation either because capitalism would work too and multi billion corporations would be decimated by class action lawsuits every tuesday.

Lastly, pessimism and hopelessness are two different things.
Pessimism is healthy.
Pessimism tells you to prepare for the worst situation and be happy when it does not come to pass.
What is not healthy is optimism, when we gonna just wing that shit and who cares if we gonna set the world on fire in the process, the sun gonna rise tomorrow eitherway.
I grew up with psychopath of an optimist. Its was not fun.

But sure. As you said “under the right conditions” communism could be one happy happy fun place too. The problem is only that we are not living in a world where conditions are right. Those are the rare exceptions.

That is 100% fair. Rumors can be true, they can be false, they can be in the middle, and sometimes they are just empty noise.

I prefer to take salted middle of the road approach.
