Just found out the word Allah αλλα in ancient Greek is a conjunction meaning:
But
Nevertheless, notwithstanding
An objection
An exception
A restriction
Nay, rather, yea, moreover
So I’m starting to get why the Greeks were so slow to convert to Islam. Some guy rides up, shouting “There is only one objection/but and Muhammad is his messenger.”
I’m sure everyone just stared stunned asking what these fools are yammering on about. Muslims forcing Korans into people’s hand saying “Allah”, they are like “Harem?” to the Muslims in turn, Muslims saying “Halah, Halah!” and pushing the Koran back into the Greek hands, then looking up to heaven shouting “Allah!”… at which point the Greeks probable handed the Koran back confused and left dejected, out of pure confusion.
“Make up your mind already!”
