I’ve came to the conclusion that until I actually develop a full blown philosophy all I really have is an opinion.
However, having your own philosophy comes after reading other philosophies/philosophers… We don’t’ want an ill-informed philosophy in collective knowledge.
A philosophy is logical (often times irrefutable) - but, it is irrefutable in a closed-system. If you mix systems together they no longer work.
A good philosophy stands on its own.
Where should I go about making my own philosophy?
Reading is my best bet. Collective knowledge is all over the internet. Like I said, I must learn other philosophers/philosophies before I can Make my own (before that, It would just be an Opinion)
Just jump in, you won’t receive an electric shock if you’re wrong, but it pays to listen, it’s embarrassing if you display your lack of knowledge, but if you learn something here maybe it will save you from embarrassing yourself in person.
I, I’ll keep you informed. Over the past two days I’ve been reading seriously. As you may already know I was preoccupied with nothingness and totality (for the past 2 weeks or so) and gave more attention there than learning new ideas.
but, over the past two days I’ve read more (and naturally my views changed) I’ve adopted a new Idea i like, today actually (over two days plus the material I’ve browsed over here) - I enjoyed Aristotles idea of the ‘final cause’ or ‘final identity’ - but it doesn’t mix well with my previous attepts at saying Nothing exists at death. Maybe the ‘final identity’ represents nothingness (or actually means nothingness) just like our use of ‘null state’ represents (or means) nothingness. II don’t know. those are my new views. MY old ones are already here.
Other than that, i’ve read a long thread - One realunoriginal gave me. One on atheism… various small ones… On on another site (sorry to betray you ) - I’ll be keeping you updated for the foreseeable future
I liked what Satyr had to say about nothing and nothingness, some good points there. I would like to quiz him on “matter is time manifest”.
Also it is not contradicting yourself if you changed your mind on something. It wouldn’t be called learning otherwise.
