They never speak up. I don’t know.
All I know, is I get on the bus, theres like 5 asian grandmas, decibel level was over 120 and they wouldn’t shutup.
Asians are loud? This surprises me for some reason.
Can they be understood? I used to watch them yell and scream on the bus, sometimes the bus driver would shut the door on them purposely and they would yell and scream. Always carrying bags with bags stuffed in them, and they always seem angry about something. Especially in Hawaii, way worst than San Francisco, they would just stare at me like I was Hitler, I had to ask if white people like, massacred Asian Hawaiians or something in the past, I couldn’t figure it out. Nothing explains it.
But that’s just old Asian women who can’t speak English, not really native born American Asians.
Asians have strong network groups, so they get help where they need it. You could bully them all you want, they’ll still manage to be more successful in society. Many go into medicine, finance, computer technology and real estate. Haven’t seen an Asian road worker yet. Very few in military too.
But not all Asians (nationalities) are alike, some groups are more organized and vocal than others, though usually they are exclusive and keep to themselves.
But not on public transportation. Everyone has a Achilles Heel.
We had decent representation in the Army Airborne, over represented than say, Blacks in my old unit. Mostly whites and Hispanics, but you had a very eclectic mix of Asians, I remember guys from the Phillipines, Guam, think a Indonesian, we also had a few genetiric US Asians who were a few generations already in. One Japanese, and might of been a Chinese guy, wasn’t sure about him. I didn’t do a full survey. Oh, we also had a giant Sri Lankan mathematician who did his masters in China, was NOT a officer for some bizarre reason.
The blacks were about equal in scope, but again, you gotta volunteer for the airborne, most blacks avoid the infantry period, but some go in, but most absolutely refuse to go to Airborne school, but some still do, and then many when they get orders to go to Alaska say “fuck this shit” in the worst way, but all races say that with equal vigor. Honestly, think the Stryker (non airborne infantry) unit in Fairbanks have even less blacis, only saw like, two, and one of them was obsessed with model airplanes, which is good, cause ummm… ain’t shit else to do in Fairbanks. They got the worst AWOL record of any post in the army, massive runs, whole units get depopulated fast.
The blacks who stay atmre pretty awesome guys though, we completely were oblivious that the army had a race problem till we met 3rd ID when they replaced us in Iraq, many of us remembered Fort Benning, both from basic and airborne school, and for many of us trying out for the rangers. Every supply Sargent and Cook was black, and a third of the infantry. Anyone NOT infantry was black. I remember thinking it was odd, but every step up, school after school, they slowly vanish. Not Hispanics, always there. Asians seem always around, just not a lot of them… blacks that stick to it do really well. I remember the guy in Charge of the Ranger A Team (special forces level training, absolute killers, do not wear uniforms, have beards and fancy hairstyles) had a 29year old black First Sargent. My Brigade had a black colonel, a few black NCOs.
I don’t think Asians are under represented in actual combat, they are over represented compared to blacks, the higher the specialization. They don’t black down. The blacks who stick to it are very awesome people, many better humans than anyone on these boards, and the army rewards them. Whites and Hispanics are like, everywhere in the infantry. But if you ever see pics if a Non-Infantry unit compared to Infantry, then Infantry Airborne compared to Non-Infantry Airborne, blacks definitely start dissapearing.
Ironically, Pacific Islanders have a higher rate of affirmative action than anyone (we had somoans, but they are Polynesian, not asian) they got promoted too quick, wasn’t safe at that speed, one nearly got some guys killed. Don’t think it would of happened had he advanced at the same pace as everyone else. Same for our colonel, he simply wasn’t ready for command yet, more time as a major would of saved a lot of lives. Think the final death count for our brigade was 54 KIA, most deaths traceable back to deeply stupid policies on his part. We keep majors stuck at majors and Lt. Col. forever for a reason, it is a very different skill set than being a company commander. It isn’t something wise to rush through for the sake of saying “we have more Pacific Islander or Black Colonels and Generals statistically now”. Let them do their full time, then promote them, they need to be competent, they are hard ranks to command.
Honestly, fuck 3rd ID. I didn’t even know you could have all gold teeth in the army, or neck tattoos. Never heard so many slurs slung at us. We all looked at the blacks in our unit, and they shook their heads wanting nothing to do with it. We were not even allowed to have mustaches, that’s how strict airborne units were, you say one thing racially unpleasant, your fucked- you wouldn’t even be reported, you just get fucked over bad. 3rd ID wouldn’t stop running their damn mouths, some bizarre contest. I was trying to be real nice as I figured many would soon die, they seem oblivious. I’m still in shock to this day, really bought into up to that point the only color in the army was green. Just didn’t occur to me how very opposite the culture was in leg units. I hated it. Why I don’t talk much about race on this site, I have little issue with skin color in and of itself. I really hate these pointless racewars, but won’t play one side or another. Like I said, the guy running the Ranger A Team, by default one if the best soldiers America Produced, was black. He is on par, probably better actually, than any Navy Seal.
