Are the 2020s better than any time before it?

I’ve seen people make the argument but I am unconvinced that the present is better than all of the past.

No. The 2020s have been the worst period of my life. The 70s and 80s were much better. Simpler times. No passwords and authorization codes to keep track of. No mass shootings that I remember. Nobody had a cell phone so no phone zombies. People actually looked at and talked to each other. No 24 hour doom and gloom news cycle. Making a living was a lot easier. You didn’t have to worry about AI taking your job. There weren’t surveillance cameras everywhere. No computer viruses. Everything was cheaper. The biggest political scandal was Watergate. Please can we go back.

Yeah, the people making those kind of arguments are those born after the year 2000 who have neither recollection nor experience with a time that used to be peaceful and different.

Anyone who tells you that 2020 are the best is either trolling you, are about 20 years old, or have some kind of mental impairment along an ideological slant. Or its a mix of the three.

The 90s and even the 2000 were probably the best time everyone had since the war.
Technological boom, relative economic stability and peace.
Oh and it was before the mental illness that is social media.

There were always angry people who wanted revolution. About a decade after WW2 they fell upon a strategy, to keep uo the violent revolutions but, in parallel, to slowly infiltrate certain major institutions and politicize them.

About in the early 2010’s it all finally started bearing fruit, with a whole new generation of “educated” youth. The revolution is now on, global, and “peaceful.” Thus the angry people are pleased, and all the people they “educated” think they are also.

In that sense, best time ever bar none. The revolution has never been anywhere even remotely close to this.

feels like you’re kid-sizing all the deep questions life-hackers put in sophistically big words for no reason

That’s how Latin people think.

Well of course a 20 something year old would make that argument because that’s the only era that they were alive in but that’s true for everybody because they have a bias towards when they had things going good for them example being a teenager and of course that was during a certain decade.

What makes this revolution different than the ones that came before ?

Agreed.
There is of course an element of experience to this question.
We all compare to what we know. Not what we do not.

For socialists, there is no “this revolution.” There is the revolution.
