Are there ghost in the world?

Do you believe there is ghost in the world?

I am going to translate that as : Do you believe there are ghosts in or on this world?
As strong and structured energy can remain cohesive and carry data, it is possible there are energy waves that we could call ghosts.

No.

^ I don’t think so either, not ghosts anyways.

I love how you rephrase the question and then don’t answer it.

All evidence we have so far points out to a correlation between activity in the physical brain and a person’s existence. Since ghosts are by definition nonphysical, there’s no reason to assume or even seriously contemplate the idea of their existence.

I did answer, we could call what I described ghosts. Ghosts out of cartoons or kiddy stories, nah.

No, I do not. Do you?
Ghosts are simply figments of the imagination, hallucinations brought on by fears, desires, a refusal to let go of someone or something, to detach, something going on within the brain which is misinterpreted - at least to me.

Do you think that you have seen one?

We pay so much lip service to our ‘knowledge’, that we get carred away by our definitions. We conjured up the idea of ‘ghosts’ and now it may be time to re-define what that means, if it means anything at all. I think it would be safe to say, that ghosts are like apparitions, spirit like creatures which imply another world made up of people like us except they arre supra phenomenal. This is a valid thought, and while we are at it, what makes us so sure that we do not fit into that definition? Oerhaps we are the ghosts to some other reality in a parallel universe? What makes us so sure that this universe is the only one that is? Ultra realism suffers from the same type of
problem which has hanted philosophers time immemorial, that concerned it’s self with these very questions and i am sure everyone will agree that the problem has not been successfully resolved, not by a long shot.

Atheris,

How coud it Not?

God is supposedly a non-physical entity yet the most intelligent people in the universe are still capable of assuming and “seriously contemplating” God’s existence.
Why is that? Where does the distinction lie or is it lay?

Kris had it right.

“Ghost” means “ghe-host”, meaning the spirit-host. The program in your computer is the “ghost in the machine”. A “spirit” is merely an activity, energy, behavior, process.

The cartoon common misunderstanding of ghost given by Hollywood, a “disembodied ghost”, glimmering as it floats down dark hallways is of course, not real. But there can be what could be called “disembodied ghosts” wherever an activity or process is taking place and yet nothing that one would call a “body” involved. There might be many such activities, one of which involves the activities relating to sub-atomic particles. The processes that causes them to do what they do is not from within the body of the particle, but from the space around the particle, seemingly empty = “disembodied energy” performing a particular process or activity.

A floating spot of light can be formed by crossing especially high and/or low frequency lasers. The process they create at the convergence area that becomes visible, is technically a disembodied ghost. With much, much more extreme technology, that process could be made to be actually intelligent and functioning much like a computer = “disembodied ghost of a machine”.

… not that anyone should really care.
