There is no credible evidence that people under Donald Trump’s command are shooting protesters with real guns.

What the Current Reporting Shows (June 2025):

  • Use of Force:
    In response to large protests—especially in Los Angeles—Trump has deployed the National Guard and, notably, U.S. Marines to assist with crowd control and immigration enforcement37. Law enforcement and military personnel have used measures such as pepper spray, batons, and arrests to disperse crowds and respond to violence and vandalism7.
    There have been reports of clashes, some injuries (including to officers), and property damage, but no verified reports of live ammunition being used against protesters by National Guard, Marines, or police7.
