As a Pseudo Philosopher,...What Does THIS Convey to You?

Ok by stretching that we could add all living is preperation for the transformation of being dead. But, your answer is about preparing for living not dying except under a great stretch.
Why or what is it about Socrates quote that makes you agree. How does it touch you or make you feel when you read and agree with it?
Words are emotive, philosophical words/phrases are primarily for emotional response and control. So?

I like that raccoon but I have no idea where you get these crazy crap gifs from.

Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? He is the one I would like to talk to.

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.

Bill it is easy to quote, I understand that. So many people do it. But its not really thinking , learning or truly understanding self. Quoting is more of a mask to hide lack. Try answering my questions with your thoughts and words. Take theirs and fit it to you not using them as a mask. Fill it out A true educator wishes their student to surpass them, a true student, does.

I’ve really enjoyed your questions.

But I really don’t view myself as a teacher and you the student. We are just members and posters here at the ILovePhilosophy Forums. Academia and alcoholics are all the same here.

If I understand your latest questions correctly, I really don’t understand other individual’s words, as you say, to be not me.

In the same way, I do not feel my thoughts to be me…or mine.

Hope that helps you.

Thank you again
for allowing me to have these thoughts, and others like them, resurface.

Well first, Bill, I was not even referencing myself anywhere near student or teacher. It was about you and those teachers you quote.
Second, this has been educational and thanks.

The one doing the force feeding is also a philosopher. And certainly the ones ordering him to force feed prisoners are philosophers. The guy in the chair, well, he might be the defacto philosopher everyone is,since they hall have some kind of philosophy and epistemology - so even if he is a peaceful atheist goat herder someone sold to the CIA to get some cash, he too would be a philosopher.

Excellent post.

Than you for adding to this thread.

.

In the bible it talks about our god as father, but he still kills his children when they misbehave.
Force feeding is from an old culture of parental and divine authority being spread and mixed up with all kinds of crap.
When I see the chair I see history.

…Good post. Thanks…

Bill, you seem to use big text but you don’t say allot.
The big text makes a few words seem allot larger.
There was also a time I thought I saw you reply to a thread with one of those “tl;dr.” things.
Some of the truth and philosophy is slow and tedious. Try not to be half assed.
On the good side, it seems to me that you have had some highs, and you can remember them and draw all kinds of meaning and purpose from them.

Highs are one of the seeds of all good philosophy.

Yes you are right.

There are highs & lows and insights beyond our normal egos.

Thank you for displaying an attitude that encourages thought and honest discussion.

I take your criticism to heart.
