I know you met one. Or been called as one.
Now are we labeling people as assholes because of their intellect, or choice of social interaction, or because he is just that?
What do you consider as a common denominator among assholes?
Is our concept of assholes a reaction to intimidation or as a inate sense of decency?
Is it integral in a society to regulate or punish in some way any assholes?
Any thoughts?
Assholes, for me, are those who cannot think critically, but still believe their opinions are valid, who think they know without having read or experienced, who think their self-sustaining ideas are universal absolutes, who see nihilism as a viable alternative to belief, who cannot compromise ever and who think they know God well enough to tell the rest of us what God expects of us. Now, given those criteria, I’ve, at one time or another, been an asshole on all counts. But I’m working on improvement.

Me too. But I do wonder if it is becuase I’m indecent or because I made an invalid statement or because I am way too smart for my own good?

An asshole is a superior jerk, an imcomparable idiot, a person who thinks their feces does not stink. An asshole is a good friend that is playing with your head, it is that family member that knows which buttons of yours to push just for a laugh. Asshole is a good person or a bad person. Its a very usefull name that takes on whatever meaning we need to give it.
my definition was simpler 
An asshole is someone I don’t like.
