I was rather inspired the other day to write a song… a sad song… about the battle between hope and despair, when a most peculiar thing happened…
While working out the lyrics in my mind… I found myself wanting to have it take the form of a conversation between god and his creation… a kind of familar tone… much like how i would imagine a prayer would sound…
Now here’s the odd part… i’m an atheist… and yet when I wanted to convay a certain message on this topic i found that invoking god would better do the “trick” so to speak…
Personally… I think this is because god is a powerful personification of the vast universe in which we live and that this allows a kind of “personality” for which you can “blame” or at least hold accountable for your surroundings as but one tiny part of existence… pretend for a moment that your personal problems somehow should echo throughout the cosmos and that you should either learn to love it’s embrace or hate it… in effect… hope or despair…
I was wondering if many theists or atheists have had simular experience in invoking god for the purpose of creating a personal relationship with the world around you… in the case of atheists I suspect it would be as a metaphore, while in the case of theists it would be more “real”…
I can’t tell if this is the makings of an interresting topic or simply an odd remark in the dark… but i’m curious…
