I was just thinking that the bible is exactly like the stick and carrot.
The old testament is the stick. And the new testament is the carrot.
What do you think? Probably has been said many times. How to control the masses.
Even though I was brought up as a relatively informed Protestant, I’ve never understood the relationship between the old and new testaments. I briefly brought this up in another thread recently:
That’s interesting. But did someone in the OT predict that Christ would come along and abolish the OT? And if this is what happened, then why did the OT remain part of the Bible? Just for contrast and context?
Sorry, but I don’t think of these books as much more than myths and sci-fi stories cobbled together over many years by many authors. Somewhere along the way they got turned into tools and put out with such great authoritarian swagger by Senex authorities that now people take them way too seriously and literally.
