i want to let you know that i first tried to email the admins and whoever was the first member of the site (thinking that he may be or know the admins.
since the last time i posted i am unable to connect to ilovephilosophy.com from my home. right now i’m using lynx on a remote computer. is this simply an error or did i break an important rule? this doesn’t need to be a public conversation so would the admins please email me? my email is in my registration info. thanks!
thanks for the reply. the error i get is that my browser hangs indefinitely when connecting from home. i’m unable to retrieve any pages on the entire site. i do not have this issue from any other computer. i also don’t have this problem with any other site. it’s simply as if my page requests aren’t getting a response. it’s as if my ip has been blocked.
I’ve checked and your ip is not blocked. Normally if you were blocked from the server, you would see a formal error message and an error number. If you were blocked from the site you would see a site message.
Browser hanging sounds like a javascript issue with the adverts - have you got the latest javascript installed? do you have the latest version of your browser?
i am now able to connect. thanks for looking into it. you’ve made no changes on your end i take it? i haven’t either. that’s very strange. also, sorry for posting this in the ‘philosophy’ forum. now i know that this one exists.
I have a question. First, let me say that the hackers I am hiring to destroy ILP are asking for more money than I am prepared to pay, so its going to take longer than I thought.
My question is, is there anyway to approve of newly registered members before they join ILP?
As you know, and as I have stated before, there have been several new members who have joined, posting porn links. This is either being done by one person or several in cooperation with one another.
The name “dick” and “tard,” which I suppose is short for “retard,” has been recurring in member names.
So, I say that this is either done from the inside, in which case it will end when I end ILP, or it is being done by a person or group of imposters who are trying to fuck with members at ILP.
Generally I am not opposed to this if it is for the right reasons, however I believe these people have no other agenda than to disturb any progress they find here (if there is any).
Believe me, I would like nothing more than to smash such people but I’m a bit impotent behind this computer screen.
So, owners of ILP, I offer you a deal. Approve of memberships before people join, or this place is history.
Whether you believe me or not isn’t important to me, but it is to you and the future of ILP.
Tis nothing new, been happening for as long as I can remember. If we had to pre-approve we’d have a lot more work to do than any of the mods actually had time to put in. Well, obw would have a lot of work to do
As it is, if they post spam, etc. it gets deleted as soon as it’s spotted, a job faust and Imp are engaging in marvellously at the moment.
I see, so you want 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 members to join ILP then, because the only reason why you would forfeit the opportunity to monitor new memberships would be this: more members, more clicked advert links, more money, lower price to run the web site.
Quality is not your concern then, only quantity.
You cannot expect me to believe that you want a gazillion members to be here…when .1 percent of the population actually posts anything at all.
No prob man. Just a little curious. The perverts don’t have leave. I’ll leave, with ILP crumbling behind me in a cloud of smoke.
Since the porn squad won’t go away, I’ve decided to let ILP live, and I’ll tell you why.
If I had my druthers I’d do all of you, but since I can’t find the porn squad (I found out its impossible to track a residence through an IP), I’m gonna do my best to piss them off…and that means letting ILP live, since they want it to die.
Eventually the idiots will get tired and commit suicide or go away.
Just keep up the moderation as you guys are doing and everything will work out fine I think. Everyone else, just ignore them. You don’t need pills or Britney Spears, trust me.
You are quite mistaken, Uni. It is not my self appointed job to provide alternatives to disasters who are created in a disaster, but rather to wash away both the disaster and its victims. To kick what is already falling. This is mercy philosophy…a mercy killing. There are plenty of human beings in this world. There is no shortage. To quaratine a mistake. The man who needs pills and porn might not be at fault, but this doesn’t mean he deserves rehibiliation. While others who have pity wish to help these people, I find it just as convenient to destroy both the problem and its victims and start anew.
Am I wrong?
Humanity is 75% hopeless. The remaining percent should not waste time trying to fix a broken machine…but destroy it so that it does not claim more victims. We are moving forward, we are not idling.
