banning people

Is being told I am condensending a warning? I changed my avatar because that is not the impression I want to make on others.

Is there a system for keeping track how many times a person has been warned, or can a moderator ban someone when s/he desides to do so?

I am having a very difficult time, because it has become obvious I have information others do not have, and instead of others choosing to become informed, an unpleasant argument has occured. When the argument is about the meaning of “moral” it doesn’t really matter, but when the arguement is about the relationship of oil, economies and war, it matters a lot.

Within a few days of entering these forums, I googled a subject and found our forum discussion, as though we were the authorities on the subject I googled. There is a growing concern about the Internet distributing bad information. When the public can not decide who is well informed and who is not, and can be persuaded by an argument that is lacking informaion, such as Bush leading us into a war and media supporting this without accurate information, what will happen? Especially when those who do not have the information, are the one’s with the power to ban people, is there a problem? What is happening to the true meaning of our freedom of speech, when poorly informed people set public opinion and can ban (cause to be fired) better informed people, because they feel offended, or have an agenda to protect?

Egads you are confident of yourself, must be nice to be so sure. Have you perhaps thought that its not what you say that causes difficulty its how you say it? You do come off as being highhanded, snobby, perfect, and better than others. FYI this does tend to tick folks off pretty good. I know thats why I really won’t deal with you too much. You are a snob. Change your style and you might get along better.

protecting what from whom?

Thank you. What you said hurts a lot. I know you have said a truth, and wish I came across differently. Several years ago a newspaper owner would edit my words, and make a huge improvement in how I come across. I wish I still had contact with him.

How do you suggest I learn the better style?

I think what I am saying is very important, but that doesn’t mean I think I am superior to others. It is extremely important that we understand the power of education and social change and the power of the dollar and how we could loose that. What I am saying is important. Who I am is not.

The connection between oil and the value of the dollar is facts vital to our survival. When someone says this is not true, it is like saying there is no such thing as bacteria and virueses, and encouraging people to drink from a contaminated well. It took a hundread years from the time scientist knew of germs and the time human beings took sanitation seriously. A hundred years of preventable deaths. Like the known scientist who knew the truth, I am a no body, but what I know is very important. Should I stop telling people the facts, to be more popular? How can state the facts in a less offensive way? What is happening here?

To answer your final question, George W. Bush and and Cheney had an agenda before being elected and before 911. The neoncons are so confident in their agenda that there is a web site explaining it and up dating people on the progress. Perhaps if everyone understood the connection between oil and the value of the dollar, everyone in the US would be in favor of this agenda. I just think the Iraqis should have had to pay the price for the agenda called the New American Century. This agenda, contolled controlled the information given the media and congress and the UN, before the invasion of Iraq. Selling oil in Euro’s would be good for Europe, and the UN was not in favor of our invasion of Iraq when Saddam began selling oil in Euro’s. AGENDA AND CONTROL OF THINGS LIKE THE MEDIA.

Sometimes the agenda is as big as Bush’s and Cheney’s, and sometimes the agenda is personal, such as a supervisor firing people she doesn’t like, or because of religious differences, or a property manager evicting people who say something she doesn’t like. Some forums justify this kind of action, as the right of ownership, rather than basing decisions on the principles of democracy.

Only recently, could bad information lead to a nuclear war, and another problem we face is the possible collapse of our economy. We are definately loosing our liberty and becoming the mechanical society we defeated in WWII. I think what we know and do not know is extremely important. I am not here for assumement, and I would be glad to be proven wrong, because there are some of us who think the US is headed for extremely bad times, worse than the Great Depression, and we fear for our children and grandchildren.

Athena, I read your thread pertinent to oil and the dollar. Imp’s response there was correct and thorough. I think you might do well to actually argue your case, rather than simply state what you deem to be a fact.

The connection between oil and the dollar is like every other connection the dollar has - wealth is measured not in currency but in purchasing power. And the value of any currency relative to any other is a function of trade - including the trading of the currency itself. American grain is purchased in dollars, so when a foreign enity buys US grain, it is also buying dollars. When a foreign entity purchases US debt, it also purchases dollars. This is only to restate some of the points in Imp’s post on that thread.

In fact, when large amounts of debt are involved, no currency can be or need be tied to a commodity. Since at least medaeval times, this has been the case.

PPP, the Purchasing Power Parity.
The same object created and sold from a different country, in the capitalist system, can have half price, ten times the price, etc. But because it is the same object; it itself should have equal value to its exact copy, no matter what nation or cash-system.

Today the economy is an absurdom, invented by sophistry.
Sophistry is generally human reason, or logic, because it’s technical complexity alone is its merit.

If we would prefer something other than strange exchange sophistry set out by foreign, private Jewish bank monopolies, we could at LEAST set an equal value for exactly similar objects, aswel as setting up a system which was based on energy-production price, instead of capitol price.

But Dan~ - if it weren’t for exchange rates, we couldn’t buy a flat-screen HDTV for two hundred bucks.

Well, that and slave labor.

well flat screens are great but you can’t watch baywatch reruns on them…

Wally world! Coming soon to all third world and Communist nations Wally world!. If Hooters can make it into China can world domination done by Wally World be far behind?

I foresee a world wide account for every human. Wally money , better than gold, Accepted at all financial institutions and at any store. Bet me, this is their goal… Are there any other corporations that could do this so easily? Nope. Just Wal-Mart.

In essence, we would have something other than linear and unconscious habits? People these days would fight even to defend the system that was destroying their own lives, if they became mentally dependant on it. That’s how ignorance goes.

No matter how many times the technology multiplies the production capacity, there still must be poor and starving people in a moronic econo-anarchy.

I think the early popularity of Mickey Mouse was quite amazing. Mickey Mouse is still popular today.

If the technocracy movement succeeded would we still have Mickey Mouse?

What other product is traded in dollars? American grain is purchased in dollars but do other country sells grian in dollars? No. Why must the Arab countries and South Armican countries and Africa countires, sell oil in dollars? Why did the US bomb Iraq when Saddam started oil in Euro’s? The general opinion is Bush doctored information and gave us a false reason for bombing Iraq, why would he do this? I am arguing he did it, because Saddam began selling oil in Euro’s. Now on one has to believe this. Another country is selling Japan oil and accepting the yen as payment. This has increased the value of the yen. We can just sit back and see what happens next. If the Arab countries stop accepting all dollars for oil, this won’t change anything, right?

Well, Athena - maybe he did - maybe that’s why he attacked. I won’t argue that. But that doesn’t mean he was correct, or that it was good economic policy. I’m not sure what you’re all upset about. The market finds its equilibrium. What’s the fuss?

Well this subject is in the oil and value of the the dollar thread, and we have agreed, oil has nothing to do with anything. Economics are driven by buying, not the ability to pay for what is bought. Now if we can just make the whole world do things the American way, there will be no problems. This is great to know.

WTF?

Boobies bounce just as well on a flat screen as on a convex tube monitor … I think you have been into the Kool-Aide®, way too much.

And Iraq is an unwinnable quagmire … you can’t beat religious fundamentalism with ground troops.

yes, you can… but nuking the middle east would be easier…

-Imp

If someone from the mid east is reading these forums, it should be said there are Americans to think Imp’s statement is immature and worse than making any other racist statement, because of the hostile nature of the comment. I wonder at the awareness of moderators who would not tolerate other raciest statements, and do not see inflaming someone of a different nationality, especially those who were never the enemy of the US and wrongly invaded, as a wrong. The reason racist statements are not tolerated is they cause a bad problem. How is what Imp said any better? He isn’t speaking of politics. What is the value of what he said? It is wrong.

it is a response to the president of iran himself. but I don’t hear you complaining about him…

I made no racist statemants. but it is nice to see the typical leftist response of name calling and screaming racism when their totalitarian socialist viewpoints are challenged.

-Imp

I know, I was distracted by the boobies as soon as you said “Baywatch” … my bad. You know how it is … male + female, rounded, fleshy object = cataclysmic brain failure. Unavoidable really.

No, you can’t, as a matter of sheer numbers, and the fact that our troops are held to certain repressive standards by International Law and Geneva Conventions that guerrilla fighters do not have to worry about.

Not to mention, the more you kill, the more fundamentalism takes a hold. Emotional stupidity, along with cultural stupidity, are the root causes of fundamentalism. You don’t kill an ideology with guns, unless there is acceptance of totalitarian genocide, (which I’m certainly not against in the present case).

Nukes aren’t an option. If we contaminate the ME, we won’t be able to get the oil, which is the whole point. Again, I’m not at all against nuclear glass, but why add billions of dollars to the oil extraction process?
